CAN ANY OF YOU GIVE ME ADVICE ABOUT LIVING IN NEW YORK CITY? BEST PLACES TO LIVE, ETC. PLACES TO AVOID AND WHAT NOT?

Here I am! This question is basically unaswerable, since NYC is a large city and there's many variables. First off, Long Island and New Jersey are NOT NYC and don't qualify (don't let tourists fool you, when they say they're "from NYC" and tell you they live in Woodbridge, NJ.. which happened to me once, and I laughed at her). Living in NYC means you're going to have less space, but a fantastic experience generally. Get a place anywhere, try Craiglist. Then, explore and make your own decisions. Areas to avoid are obvious -- go Google a crime/stat website for maps (easy to find). This is NYC, and for the most part you WANT a hot area like Williamsburg or Carroll Gardens or Park Slope in Brooklyn. Or, eastside of Manhattan. Harlem is getting hot, too. Don't let dingbats or fearful people slow you down.

Anywhere in Manhattan is good. Long Island City in Queens is cheaper and is close to the city and still fine. Pretty much anywhere in Brooklyn these days is fine but try Greenpoint, DUMBO, or Park Slope. Parts of the Bronx are really nice, but I wouldn't qualify them as being a part of NYC, they are more suburban.

Depends on how much money you have...

Staten Island, Queens and Brooklyn are much more affordable but still too expensive for the average person on an average income.
