This is PROBABLY NOTHING to worry about, dont let the other answers frighten you.
I had EXACTLY this but worse. Increased heart beat, dizzyness, numbness, pins and needles, lethargy, stomach cramps, constipation, diarreah, burning skin, rashes, interupted sleep the list went on and on.
I saw so many doctors and had so many tests and ALL came back negative. Shall I tell you what I later discovered it was, and what you may well have.
STRESS
I refused to believe all the doctors who told me it was just stress as i didnt feel at all stressed but looking back I can see that I was and that the more I worried about the symptoms, the worse I got. I also made it a lot worse by looking at health encyclopedias on line and soon convinced my self I had every disease going. DONT DO THAT.
Doctors know what they are talking about. One told me that the fact that I had SO MANY symptoms was a good sign because anything serious wont affect your entire body. It was just that my nervous system was playing up and that covers all the body.
NERVOUS system - STRESS see the link.
Anyway friend, have more tests if it makes you feel better but if they cant find anything, I promise you its most likely that your stressed out.
I felt **** for several months until I met a lovely girl who I started dating and then miraculously all my symptoms began to dissapear over the next few weeks.
GOOD LUCK

Blood tests would have found anything bad. Go back to your GP, and tell him you are not feeling any better. Believe this or not, I started with panic attacks 7 years ago. I made my GP refer me for EVERY imagionable test, ranging from ECGs, chest exrays, to the extreem, CAT scans and MRI scan. Everything came back normal. Your GP knows what he is talking about. It does sound very much like panic/anxiety attacks. I have been taking anti depressants on and off for years now, when taken properly, they certaintly help. Look up www.nopanic.com. Its a forum for people who have depression, panic etc. You can compare your symptoms. Im sure you will be relieved you are not the only one, if this is what you are suffering from.

Hi,
Based on what you have said I think it would be a good idea to see your local GP and discuss these symtoms with him so that further tests can be done to find out what the problem is here.
Its also important to take into consideration when the shortness of breath and lightheaddeness occurs, for example is it after vigorous exercise or something as simple as jumping out of bed in the morning.
Also, are you vital signs normal? That is resps(before & after exercise), blood pressure, pulse, temp etc. It would be important to discuss these with a doctor.
I hope this has helped and i hope you are able to find a solution here :D

I had the same symtoms happen to me, and finally I went to the doctor b/c I was getting scared. They ran blood tests but everything came back physically normal. The doctor determined I was having panic attacks. If everything is physically okay with you, maybe you should ask your doctor if it could be panic attacks or anxiety. Just a thought....

RE: Shortness of Breath, Chest Pressure, and Fast Pulse... Help please!? I just left triage about 2 nights ago before I started to notice this to be a problem and it's really starting to bother me. I hate the hospital I go to because the doctor's are really rough and it seems like the fast talk you and then your out the door. If it's nothing serious, I rather stay...

I would get another doctors' opinion. I think a heart monitor may pick something up. Maybe a 'stress test' also. This is something NOT to be messed with. Keep up with this and try to find an answer.
Also, stay away from caffeine. This affects the hearts rhythm too.

I had something similar a couple of years ago (I'm now 20), but I wasn't getting palpitations. I used to feel light headed a lot (and once fainted), was short of breath and felt quite tired. They found out that I had low blood pressure which was causing a lot of it. Maybe you should get that checked out

Are you sure you are eating enough, if you exercise alot maybe you need more food. I sometimes get like that and I eat a chocolate bar and it gets me back to normal. I'd see the doctor again though to do more thorough tests if you're worried.

This may be a bit too far off but perhaps you're a bit dehydrated? Are you drinking enough? I'd definitely go to the doctor's if I were you, then at least you can be sure about your health.
