I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to health foods, vitamins, supplements etc so wanted to know if people found Holland & Barrett any good. Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

It depends where you like. Holland & Barratt are a bit pricey. If there's a 'Real Foods' around I'd go there.

Holland & Barrett and Julian Graves I think are the two best known health food stores but a lot of supermarkets now sell many of the itmes you can buy in the health food shops. Keep your eyes peel and shop around for bargains - they probably have websites so you could compare them to say, Tesco or somewhere before buying stuff from them.

Holland and Barrett will probably have everything you are looking for from a health food shop but they are very expensive. You could try typing "health food shops uk" in your search engine, they will give you the addresses of the ones nearest to you plus the on-line only ones that are generally much cheaper than Holland and Barrett.

I don't even consider Holland & Barrett to be a health store. Many of theproducts they sell (as is the case with lots of other stores) are just not as healthy as they are made to appear. Also, staff knowledge is scant to say the least. I always prefer to go to independent stores where the people are generally very keen and able to offer more advice and guidance.

i have used holland and barrett for years for nutrional supplements as i am a bodybuilder and although they are pricey if u buy carefully when there sales are on (which is often) u can bag yourself a bargain. For foods i could not really say. Most of there supplements are suitable for vegetarians which helps me a lot but there is one other place you can try www.healthspan.co.uk my email is zdin@hotmail.co.uk if you want any more info byeeeee...........

Take time once a few days to plan out and shop for meals and snacks so you will be prepared whenever hunger strikes.
