It is not so much a matter of dog, as it is a matter of dog drive. There are some little dogs out there that bite so hard that you would think it's huge dog biting you. And there are some huge dogs that bite like nothing. It is a matter of drive. Dogs bite the hardest when they are in prey drive. Their food and survival depends on that and if they cannot bite and hold their prey, they will not eat and die. Bites in defense are generaly not as hard but they can be violent. It depends, I guess, on your idea of what a dog bite feels like. All of them hurt. The hardest biting dog I have ever felt bite me was a medium sized malinois that would bite like the devil.

I don't think anybody's bothered to find out.. Logically, it would be a larger dog with a larger more muscular jaw. A doberman for example although fearsome looking would probably not pack as much strength as an Alsation. But if I had to put my money on any dog, it'd probably be the Mastiffs just on sheer potential and the right kind of physique..

well that depends because I know of a few rottweilers which cant open their mouths very wide even without a muzzle and have half of their teeth missing. Even tiny dogs like Lhaso Apso's have strong bites so its not their size its if you provoke them or have not been prevented from biting humans in their younger life

Dogs like Pitbulls and Staffs have jaw lock, so that would be pretty powerful, and you would take several people to get the jaws open again. You can tell by a dogs strong jaw line.

To be honest i think that a german shepherd would have a pretty strong bite on it.

Dunno which dog has the hardest bite, guessing you are asking for a no good reason! No dog can lock it's jaw though, it's a misconception. Certain breeds like pits have very very strong jaws that take a lot to prise open but they don't actually 'lock'.

Would think most big dogs had hard bite if they wanted to. Especially the fighting dogs.
Why would you want to know?
