Look around the BX and Commissary area where there are bullentin boards of postings. Lots of people will put flyers up when they PCS or just need to give away their pets.

There are plenty of dogs in shelters needing good homes. Just remember too, a dog is a lifelong commitment. Are you willing to care for it for the next 10-15 years (or so)?

btw. I found my dog on petfinder almost 3 years ago. He was in a shelter in the neighboring county. I cannot believe what a good dog he turned out to be. That was one of the luckiest days of my life.

Petfinder.com - where you can do a search based on your zip code, and also specify size of dog, age, etc. It's an excellent site and very easy to use.

check petfinder.com for your area. they always have lots of puppies as well as younger and older dogs if you want one that's possible already trained.

If you haven't already, just research the different breeds on the petfinder site too.

good luck.

Go to your local dog shelter or any dog shelter and you will find an array of dogs. They all are looking for good homes.

I'd recommend adopting one. there's bound to be someone transferring that will need to leave their pet behind.
