We were at a baby shower just last summer. It was at a camp and I told my 5 year old that she could go swimming afterwards. She has this thing about where should she pee when she's in the pool(outside on the grass, go inside, etc.) She asked if she could pee in the lake. There is only sand around the water and all I could invision is kitty litter, and the house is too far away, she'd never make it, so I said yes she could.
So everyone is sitting there watching the Mom to be open presents and my daughter asks, "Can I go swimming now?" I told her in a little while. Then she says in front of everyone, "I can pee in the lake right?" I told her we would go potty before she goes down to the water so she should be ok. Then she says, "But you told me I could pee in the lake earlier." I laughed, my friend laughed, everyone laughed. I was so embarrassed, but that's my daughter. Never tell her anything you don't want repeated.
Just laugh it off, anyone with children will understand how they can be sometimes. Anyone who doesn't well, let's just say I hope they find a warm spot in the lake.LOL

Oh Lord yes! My daughter has asked me if an employee at a store was a boy or a girl (I honestly didn't know!).
And my son and I were in the checkout one day and he said "Is that lady 5 or something?" and I said "What? I don't know, why?" and he said "Cause she lost her teeth". There has been other times too, but those stick out in my head.

When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time with my grandma. One day when I was about 8, we were getting ready to go to the supermarket. Before we left, I managed to slip a "kick me" sign on my 78 year old grandmother's back. She made it all the way around to the meat department before a lady came up and told her about it. I think she was embarassed for about a minute, but now she tells that story laughing in tears!

Before I had children of my own, my older sister and I were driving from California to Arkansas to visit. We had stopped at a truck stop for gas and what not. My niece was about 3. I took her to the bathroom with me and when I went to go potty, she says, at the top of her lungs " oh auntie, you have a harry butt" It was my front she was looking at!. We didn't leave the bathroom, until I was sure all others were out. I was only 18. Never again did I take her to the restroom with me.

My Mother in Law always get clothing for my kids at Christmas and birthdays. When my son was four he opened it up and said "Oh it's just clothes". He did thank her after. Although it must have worked because she now usually puts a little toy in with them.

Not yet! My daughter is almost 2 1/2, so the only things she says now are cute, not embarrasing yet. One time, at home, I was in the bathroom and she asked "potty?". I said yes, I'm going potty. Then she said "pooping?" It caught me off guard, but it was funny too. The best part was, later on at my parents house, she did the same thing to my dad! Too cute...

I've got one that so beats yours! LOL My mother in law likes to come by with just an hour or so notice. She lives in another state! So once when she did that I said "OMG She's driving me crazy, I hate it when she does that" My EIGHT year old son tells her "My mom says you drive her crazy and she hates when you come over. She wants you to leave right now." I realize that he didn't get that it was because the house has to be perfect and what not. But I could have died. I just stood there with my jaw dropping by each second. I kept telling him "Be quiet! Stop saying that" but it went on for what seemed like forever! After they left he got a good talking to about what is said at home between us STAYS between us. I was so embrassed and angry becuase I do love my Mother in law to death but I just wanted time to have the house nice and neat. It wasn't filthy but it needed some work to pass "her standards". I was so ashamed that day.
Oh, there was another time that my son saw a billboard that said "Simply Red! Syphillis is Back!" It was obvously to warn people that this diease hasn't faded away. My son went to school and said to his friends "You know what's really nasty??? Syphillis!!!" It was an interesting time picking him up from school that day.
Another time LOL My son says "My teacher gets hot for Cheetos" With the teacher standing there. She said "No, I get hot from the flaming cheetos!!!"
ANOTHER TIME: LOL When he was about 2 we were in the store and he kept saying "Shut up, shut up shut up" I told him firmly YOU BETTER START TALKING NICELY TO ME. He batted his eyelashes and said "Mommy?" "Yes?" I said "PLEASE SHUT UP"

My (now ex) husband and I split up when our "baby" was 6 weeks old (she's now 5) and our oldest was 3½ (she's now 9). When my youngest was about 1½, we all went to KFC with my mother for lunch one day. I had the baby sitting on the counter and she was babbling "Dadadadadada" and my oldest one said, "What are you talking about? You don't even know who your dada is!" I could have died.

My 3 yr old daughter goes to church every Sunday morning and Wen night. Over Christmas they studied Joesph, Mary, and Jesus. She brought home serveral learning pages with pictures of Mary and Jesus on them. Well about a week ago we were at Wal-mart and we saw a Muslim woman with a veil over her hair. My daughter looked at me and said "Mama, she looks like Mary!" I could only smile. The woman over heard her and smiled also.
