-why do you not consider JKD as mma?
since it's drawn from a couple of different disciplines?
-It just sounds too bad if it's true that the original JKD has gone w/ Bruce.....
-his original students i think only Dan Inosanto is alive. i was dumb enough to not have realized who he was when his studio used to be 30 minutes from where i used to live back in cali..the sign just read " Dan Inosanto Martial Art's studio " very plain.... but yeah respects to him as well...

It was his personal approach to martial arts. He once said if you try to question it or give it a structure then you've lost the meaning from the start.
You have to find you're own JKD

It is not MMA. There are so many factions of JKD and they all argue with each other. The two biggest factions are: Original VS Concepts.
Original is the techniques that Bruce Lee developed AS HE TAUGHT THEM.
Concepts is a mixture of Filipino Martial arts, SOME if ANY Bruce Lee techniques, Silat, and whatever flavor of the month martial art is at any given time.
I say find an original Bruce Lee student or a certified instructor under one of them.
I used to teach it and abandoned it due to the politics and arguing. Plus it has become impractical. Learn boxing and grappling, you'll be better off.

Jeet Kune Do means "Way of the Intercepting Fist" it means to intercept the opponents attack rather than block an attack.
It's one of the more fluid forms of Martial Arts, but they don't often teach multiple "disciplines". But some instructors who have studied JKD will often have backgrounds in othr disciplines.
it's not a "Mixed Martial Art" per se; Jeet Kune Do has taken the dynamics of several fighting disciplines (western Boxing, Wing Chun, etc.) and combined them to streamline an individuals defense against an aggressor, to become it's own discipline.
Many other martial arts have done the same in the past or more recent years. like Kajukenbo (Karate, Tang Soo Do which is actually called Mosul because it's a Korean Martial art instead of Japanese), Kenpo (Kosho Ryu) and Escrima, Jujutsu (Se Keino Ryu), Judo (Danzan Ryu) and Kung Fu (Chu'an Fa Chinese Boxing) which has taken five practitioners from at least 5 separate disciplines to take the dynamics of their own discipline to form one discipline.
Or Shorinji Zendo-Ryu Karate, which is taught as a complementary fashion instead of "blending" Karate and Aikido together.
these like Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do are "Hybrid" Martial Arts. Combining the techniques of Two or more disciplines to becoame a different Martial Art.
you can pro'bly get more info from the Jeet Kune Do website bruceleefoundation.org

Hmmm.. I would say 'having no way as your way' would sum it up. At least that's how Bruce Lee put it.
Unforunately, lots of people have 'made a way' of it. Lee would have been turning in his grave if he could see what is passed off as JKD in this day and age.
I'd suggest you follow this link I'd posted in long ago. Rather a long thread, but a thorough reading of all the posts in it may help

If you wanna be as bruce lee just get out and star parcticing anything. JKD was lee's personal technique It means that all this people who claim they own jeet kune do are out of order coz' bruce lee's jeet kune do died with him; so what you got to do is start training, study, train your brain and your body when you get your own technique you may name it and die with it. good look, keep in shape.

Jeet Kun Do is the Tao of martial arts. Tao teaches one to follow the waterway path. be like water flowing and being finding your own way, your own Tao. Tao means "the way".
Same with Jeet Kun Do, each man will find his own strengths and his own abilities. The only constants in Jeet Kun Do are to become educated in the ways of the body and develop your own speed and skill to deal with your strengths and weaknesses. There are several moves that were personal favorites of Bruce Lee that are often taught but each person must make their own way.
Find a local school and ask to sit in on a lesson to see what they are like. If you like the dojo they can teach you more. You can also watch Bruce Lee's documentary on Jeet Kun Do or read one of his books. I recommend "Tao of Jeet Kun Do".
