I've tried a couple of Carmen Electra's DVDs. They're quite a bit of fun, but rather light on the actual cardio workout. On each DVD, there are a couple of workouts (dance routines) with different difficulty levels, but even when I did the hardest workout I never got my heart rate up to the cardio zone (for me about 140-160 Beats Per Minute), broke a sweat or even had to breathe hard.

The biggest problem is that these aren't aerobics videos with set moves. You have to learn each of the dances in its entirety, so you'll have to go through them slowly to learn the routine before you can up the pace for a cardio workout. Even more challenging, each of the dances is only about 10-15 minutes with a 5 minute warm up, which is good for learning them, but bad for getting a good workout. You end up having to queue up each 10 minute session separately, so even if you want to go through the entire DVD (to get a 30 min. workout) you have to stop between dances and fiddle with the remote.

If you're just trying to motivate to start working out they're definitely fun enough to get you up and going. If you're a more experienced exerciser looking to work up a good sweat, however, you're better off looking somewhere else.

"Dance Off the Inches: Fat Burning Jam" isn't as sexy, but they take just 10 minutes to teach the individual dance moves so you can spend the rest of the workout actually working out. It's still a fun dance based workout but with better results. A couple of other good cardio based workout DVDs: "Fat-Burning Kickboxing Workout for Dummies" and "Patrick Goudeau Step Up."

I have the set of Strip Aerobics. I've only taken the plastic off one of the DVDs. They are fun to do, but they are a light workout. They're not doing me any good collecting dust on my shelf! :)
