Why do people care that others have piercings and tattoos? How does it affect your life if someone on the other side of the globe has a piercing/tattoo? I have three piercings (lip, nipple and navel) and two tattoos (one on my hip and one on my back) and I'm getting a third next week. Nearly every time I go on Answers there's someone telling people they shouldn't get a piercing/tatt. If someone has already made up their mind why try to dissuade them? Maybe someday I will regret them but I accept that and it still hasn't stopped me.

I asked a similar question to this not long ago it is a shame people seem to feel the need to judge just because some like to express there self in a different was ie through there body i like my tattoos and to be honest i really don t care what people think of me for having them i have my tattoos to express what i love and believe in there is nothing wrong with that I think alot of it is because some people are not happy unless they have something to moan about people should learn to mind there own business and let people get on with there life in what ever way they choose to

I agree with you on that, people told me not to getmy tattoo so i justwent ahead and did anyway and even quicker thani thought i would i had my tattoo done 2 days ago and i love it as you sai i may regret my piercings one day (nose,belly button twice,ears) and my 1 tattoo but will be getting another few more done.
the more someone says dont do it the more they are going too do think i am right??

We live in a society where people voice their opinions about everything. Take this site for instance, prime example, but we seems to thrive on it. sometimes people want to warn others about things like tattoos and piercings simply because of their own bad experiences, others do it just because they don't like the look of something. for me it's a case of ...Whatever floats your boat.

I care that my son aged 18 has two stretched ear lobes, a pierced lip, eyebrow top of ear cartilage, piereced nipples and two tattoos. Unfortunately he lives with his Dad otherwise I would have told him to think carefully about all that. He has had so many crazes in his life that I think tjhis is just another one that he will be sick of eventually.

OMG you are soooo right. When I came here before I got my belly pierced people were constantly discouraging me and scaring me with stories of pain and infection. Did that stop me no. I just don't understand why they care, but it is really annoying isn't it

People just like to think that they are right, and in some ways they are, they are right to decide what they do with their own body, and if you ask people what they think then they will automatically give you their opinion based on what they would or would not do to their body. They forget you are asking a question about YOUR body, so it should not matter to them really.

It definatley is personnal choice. People do have a right to express their opinion on something but not to 'bully' people into not doing something. I have tattoos and if anyone says they dissaprove my answer is that it is my body and not theirs.

dont u find theres 2 types of people who get them tho? the "teeny bopper-its the fashion" brigade and them who see and understand body modification as part of their way of life? its something you either understand--or dont, them that dont, like a lot of other things people dont understand, attack. doesnt take a genius to work out which one i am!!
