It's kind of a misleading statement to say that dogs' mouths are cleaner than humans. It's not that dogs' mouths have less bacteria in them than humans, in fact, a dog's mouth is full of bacteria. However, almost all of the bacteria is species-specific, meaning it can't transfer over to you. So you're much more likely to get sick kissing another person than you are kissing your dog. Bottom line: you can let your chihuahua lick your ice cream all you want!
Oh, and thank you for the "awesome" comment.

I've heard that seven seconds thing many times. Do you remember the story from the Bible that said a dog licked away the sores of a man? I think it is in Luke 16. My dad used to let his little poodle lick his feet every night, his feet were chapped and cracked from the work he did. In very short time, his feet were all cleared up. I don't freak or think it's gross for my dog to eat off my fork or spoon, just like with my kids. Sorry to gross you out, but hey, I'm just that way. Yeah, I know they eat gross things, I just don't think about it. Bless you, your awesome too!!! I love hearing I'm not the only one who shares with my babies.

I am not sure this is true, but I have always been told that a dog's mouth sanitizes itself every 7 seconds with a fresh layer of saliva. Sharing ice cream with your dog certainly won't harm you, but yea some people do this it is gross.

Dog's saliva & digestive juices are much stronger than ours which is why they can eat such disgusting things and not have upset stomachs. When I think of the things my dogs eat, I wouldn't want their mouths near my food, much as I love 'em.

In a manner confident, and in a manner, no. human beings have micro organism on their tongue constantly for some reason (I forgot), and this is in large quantities. in case you stick out your tongue and check out it, you notice those circles all on it? it is micro organism! canine, on the different hand, have not got the micro organism. So confident, it is cleanser than ours because of the fact there tongue is roofed by ability of a layer of micro organism like ours is. yet, our micro organism isn't risky micro organism (needless to say) and canine consume gross issues. canine consume trash, consume their poop, %. up nasty issues off the line, and so on. whilst they do this, because of the fact they have not got micro organism on their tongue to interrupt it down, it keeps to be there for awhile, making their mouth particularly grimy! So in a manner it is cleanser, yet with what they get themselves into, it maximum particularly isn't!
