people always say that jogging will slim u down and stuff like that. i tried it out during the hols and instead of slimming my thighs/claves/butt, it simply made me gain muscle! i don't want to gain muscle! according to various sources, pilates is a effective way to slim legs yet not gain muscle. is this true? if it is, how do i do them (pilates)?

Before I had back surgery, I did Pilates several times a week at home using a good mat and a Mari Windsor DVD (basic at first and later advanced), which you can get many places (Target, Ebay, etc.). You can also take a class, as my sister-in-law does. And yes, Pilates definitely slimmed my legs. They were also stronger; but the muscles that developed were long, not bulky or bunchy. You didn't ask about abs; but it worked great on those, too. I'm waiting for my surgeon to release me to start Pilates again and highly recommend it. Good luck!

Muscle is your friend, it burns your calories. The more you have, the better shape you are in. Pilates needs to be correctly learned, IMO it's really tough. Invest in some private classes that use the equipment, not just the mat.

go for classes, read books about it, watch exercise DVDs! just make sure you're doing it the right way - you don't wanna pull anything!
