Tithing is a test from God. He says, do this with a grateful heart and see what happens. You can't out give God.
No pastor should demand a tithe from his flock.

Your pastor is wrong!!!! Plus you should believe in the Trinity. Just remember your faith should be in Jesus Christ and what he did at the Cross. Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
Matt 22.21 That should answer your tithing question

The Almighty set up the tithing system. 3 tithes 1 paid for your pilgrimages to Jerusalem. 1 paid the Levites 1 went to widows and orphans. (Which is Ms Scott?) The Savior (YAHOSHUA) died so we could obey, not so we could disobey. What does Scripture teach?

Jesus did not have money the way we do today. Therefore, you can see the idea of tithing money is a more modern belief.
I Think that Jesus would have rather that you tithed your time, and cared for your fellow man.

some church buildings propose (no longer call for) a 10 % tithe, even though it is continually no longer mandatory. human beings usually supply what they could. i do not imagine it shows a lack of religion in Jesus. rather the opposite. i imagine it shows devotion to him, and the human beings who donate are doing so out of the goodness of their hearts. a minimum of it particularly is how that is interior the Protestant church buildings that i have been to as a shopper. different faiths would have a distinct idea of tithing. did you recognize the position the money actual is going? It has little to do with no matter if one has faith in Jesus. It is going to assist help the pastor -- to pay his lease and purchase his nutrients and help his family members. How do you imagine he makes his living? i do not understand what your pastor is wondering, even though it advantageous sounds to me like he's reducing off his nostril to spite his face, and that i do not propose that disrespectfully, although the tithes are for his income, so why would he be discouraging them?

Tithing is a thing of the Old Testament, In New Testament giving ourselves FULLY to HIM is what matters, When one give himself/herself fully to GOD means ALL that he/she has belongs to God and is of God and from God.
God does not want our money, Just Religion wants it! and this is common to ALL Religions.

We are told in the New TEstament to "give as we have been prospered" we are not told to use tithing any more. That went out with the Old Testament since it is "for our learning". Jesus died for our sins at Calvary. He was buried, arose from the dead, and was taken into heaven to sit at GOD's RIGHT HAND. We await HIS RETURN for the Judgment now.
To become a real Christian, we are told that we must HEAR the WORD in John 6:45, Jesus said, “It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” We are also told so in Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We are told the we must BELIEVE in Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We are also told so in Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” and in John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. We are told that we must REPENT (or turn from sin) in Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Also in Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We are also told in 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. We are to be BAPTIZED according to Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” and Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. We are to CONTINUE to be FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH according to Revelation 2:10c Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. We also know that Paul wrote in Romans 14:12 each of us shall give account of himself to God. It is important that we not ignore what is written, change what is written, or add to what is written in the New Testament which is our Christian Guide. Have a great week.

EDIT... If Melissa Scott is a lady then she should NOT be teaching or preaching during services according to the Apostle Paul's writings. Why would anyone have a female preaching in a ChUrCh?

I agree with your pastor. Give to Cesar what belongs to him and give to God what belongs to Him. That is "Everything."
