Ligament laxity refers to an elongated condition of the knee ligaments that should otherwise be tight and protect the knee. The best way to treat laxity and knee ligament pain is to first, strengthen the dynamic stabilizers of the knee. These are the muscles of your thigh (quadriceps), the muscle on the back of the leg (hamstrings), the calf muscles (gastrocs) and the muscles on the shin (anterior tibialis). Secondly, is to elevate and ice your knee down 2x a day for at least 15 minutes in order to prevent further inflammation of the knee structures. Hope this helps.

I believe (and please remember I'm no doctor) that the only cure is surgery. My husband has a similar problem in that the same ligament gets injured over and over again and his doctor told him eventually he would have to have surgery if it kept happening. Short term cure? Rest and wear a brace. But again it's not a cure.
