I want to try a DVD video targeting fat loss on the bum and thighs mostly, but with a few abs exercises. Has anyone ever tried a DVD that actually worked- if so - which one? And are fitness DVDs a good form of exercise? Thnx

Hi

I have exercised at home for the last five years. I started because after my first year at university I weighed in at 9 stone 10 pounds (I'm 5"2) and I couldn't afford to go to the gym. I now weigh 8 stone 3. Although 5 years sounds a lot I lost about 10lb in my first couple of months without any changes to my diet.

The problem that I have found though, it that one DVD doesn't always give you exactly what you want. I also find that if you choose to just workout at home then you will tire of that one DVD very quickly!

I therefore instead own a couple of different ones which I rotate. Here are some of my favourites:

Nell McAndrew DVDs (all of them) - Lots of cardio, floor work (bum, tum, legs) and arm work. You can the older ones cheap on Amazon. Some people find the cardio bit boring and a bit long.

Davina McCall Power of 3 - Good one hour workout. Arms, bums and thighs and stomach. If you only do this video then you will want to strangle Davina after a week! I also have 'My three 30 minutes workouts' but don't really rate it.

Elle Macpherson The Body - Old but good aerobic workout. Still costs about 10 pounds on DVD though.

Tae-Bo (all) - Good kickboxing workout. Really good for relieving stress!

Isabella's Power Workout - Good circuit training workout.

Barbara Curry - Yoga videos. Less showy than Geri's but I find them more effect.

I recommend that if you are serious about working out at home, then ignore the expensive brand new DVDs and get 2 or 3 older cheaper ones. That way you can rotate them and not get bored. I would also suggest (if your routine permits) getting up an hour early a couple of days a week, and doing a 1 hour workout. I would then at the weekend fit in a slightly longer workout.

I also suggest that if you have a bad diet (too much of what you like) then you need to look at that and see where you can make changes.

You cant target areas to lose fat! It will be an all over fat loss. However steps are a good way to target thighs and bum for toning. I've just bought a video called "everybody steps" by Gin Miller. Its ace if you've never even seen a step before! Easy to follow and has different levels to work up to. I also got a cheap step (£12) from argos as opposed to a £40 reebok one. Pilates and body balance programmes also have abs exercises you could do.

i'm a well being freak and performance presented each fact television stars dvds and really the purely ones that are appropriate truly well worth the money and are a good workout recurring and project are the tae-bo ones. attempt and get one with an person-friendly and superior workout recurring on the dvd. I promise u u receives wide leads to case you do the straightforward 3 cases a week for 6 weeks and eat a low calorie ingesting recurring. then you definately would want to attempt the superior - i swear through creating use of Billy Blanks.

Cindy Crawford's - although now old - are the original and best celeb fitness DVD.

Apart from that, you could try something like a belly dance, salsa or another fun DVD - you get to learn a new skill and as it is fun, you're more likely to do the workout more regularly.

Fitness DVD's are a great form of exercise if you can do them regularly and get the exercises correct...i.e. getting the breathing right and pulling the muscles in at correct points affects the way your abdomen can look.
I like the aerobics style DVD's that contain floor exercises as well. They helped to improve my general fitness level.

Most DVDs get watched a couple of times and then left on a shelf...just as most of those "ab trainer" and other bits of machinery you buy on TV end up in the shed or under the bed.
Better to download some good music on your MP3 and go out walkabout; you'll get fresh air and sunlight as well as losing weight and getting in shape.

If you are looking for fast results try a boxing DVD or boxercise It is hard work but the results are well worth it. I don't know of any but I'm sure you could search for one.
