I have a 50W sony cd player in my car. I have two sets of rear speakers. one is 330W 6x9 pioneer 80w input speakers and the others are 200w sonyxplod 6x9 44w input speakers. I can't really tell the difference in sound quality. I don't have an amplifier.

the Pioneers will blow the Sonys away every time. if you get a small amp, there will be a huge differnce.
