one of my friends little sisters got a baking kit thing for christmas. It came with pans for cupcakes bread and cakes. well i decided that i wanted to bake with her this weekend. Is it safe? are they meant to actually go into the oven? if so, whats an easy non-messy recipe we could do?

Don't use it - throw the thing away. They cause injury. I was seriously burned by an "EZ Bake Oven" when I was about 6. Just toss the thing, and use the real oven. It's much safer.

I was burned, because the top of the chocolate cake was raw, while the bottom was burning. I took the cake out of the oven with the plastic 'pan remover', and the cake slipped from the remover, flipped over onto my left hand and burned me. The pan did not touch my hand at all, just the hot, raw cake batter. It stuck to my hand, and my mother had a hard time getting it off.

I still have the scars on my hand - although they have faded quite a bit - and this happened 30 years ago.

Teach your sister and her friend how to use a real oven properly, and they won't get hurt.

Kids and cooking do not equal non-messy cooking. That is the fun of it. I would think if it is an easy bake oven kit that the pans are only safe for the easy bake oven. Good luck.

If it was meant to go with the litle oven powered by a lightbulb... probably not. otherwise it should be ok. I you are worried just make sure you use the cupcake inserts
