I've been researching dog clippers...was wondering if anyone else has used this brand and if they're happy with them. I'd be using them on a cocker spaniel. I don't want to pay out a reasonable sum of money only to find out they're useless and keep them in the cupboard. Any info would be appreciated.

Andis Shears are fine and do a good job .I don't use mine constantly all day but for the jobs I have done they are just as good as Oster. They should work great on a Cocker because their hair usually grows in one direction and is not that thick. The trick is to oil and cool and clean as recommended.Good Luck!!!!!!!!Think about the money saved, soon you will have a good pair payed for and you can keep your dog looking and feeling great. It is simple to do and just read your instructions for care and use.

I prefer the Oster A-5, 2 speed. It is worth the extra few dollars. Great clipper. I have one that I have had for 15 years, and I bought them used. I do use the Andis baldes sometimes.
I am sure the Andis clippers are fine also.

And yes, avoid the "pet grooming kits". They could not shave a bald dog.

I know a lot of people swear by Andis, but I hate them and find them underpowered for my needs. I prefer either the Oster A-5, or my new favorite the Wahl KM2.

Don't bother with the "pet grooming kits", invest in a proper professional quality clipper. The cheaper models don't do as good a job and don't last.

I have gone through several cheaper clippers. When it cost me 350.00 to get my five groomed I invested in them and it is a big difference!!! Well worth it. The blades get into more expense that I wasn't expecting but it works and all of my dogs have undercoats too.
