Disc brakes were an option on late sixties mopars after 1965. They were made by Kelsey Hayes and many were actually pretty trick, using a 4-piston design instead of the usual single piston & floating caliper.

Common repro items still available at most auto parts stores are the discs, calipers, pads, booster, proportioning valve and master cylinder & lines. What you will need is a proper spindle (from a wrecking yard - any late 60's Dart or Barracuda A-bodied car should do. Other Mopar disc brakes from Chargers, Coronets, Roadrunners, Challengers, etc... will NOT work.

On most A-bodies from 63-72, the wheel bolt pattern was also smaller - 4" on 5 so other Mopar stuff with a 4.5" bolt circle will not work.

You can also convert by switching to newer Dart spindles and brakes, such as those found on 73-76 Darts and Dusters - very common and cheap. These will have the bigger wheel bolt pattern meaning you'll have to change your rear axle bolt pattern as well to match, probably best accomplished by replacing the entire rearend which is a 4-hour job. Not a bad way to go and you can use it as an opportunity to upgrade from the 8-1/4" to the 8-3/4" with Sure-Grip (posi)...

Also while your in there, it would be a good time to change all those left-hand lugs on the left side of your car for right-hand like the rest of the world.

If you can't find front spindles through a local wrecking yard, try e-Bay, Hemming Motor News or even check with Year One.

If you really want to get trick, pick up the rear discs from an older Chrysler Imperial off the 8-3/4" rear. These will also work on your rearend, giving you four-wheel discs. Be sure and nab the correct proportioning valve with this. This will not work with the standard duty 8-1/4" rear (the small one with a bolt on rear cover).

Good luck with that...

The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted.
