What are the legal aspects of this in regards to dog containment. My neighbor has no fenced yard and on occasions he has let his dog crap on my yard and im sick of it. The dog also pisses in my bushes. Ive tried to talk to him about it but he told me ive got problems, if thats all im worried about. I've also seen his dog(Irish Setter) without a leash running around the yard, and wandering in my yard. Can the police do anything or is it a waste of my time to notify them? What legally can I do? Thank you

Does your town not have leash laws? Is there not a law against letting dogs roam free? If there is then report him and next time the dog is roaming have it picked up. People that are not responsible should not own pets.

First, see if there is a leash law in you city/town. If there is get in touch with your Animal control (dog officer) and tell them about your problem. Explain to him/her that you are trying to do things the right way.. And if you can take pictures or video of his dog running around MORE SO if the dog is in your yard. Best evidence is the dog taking a dump in your yard. If this fail, well you may not like my answer here, BUT this is how I would handle it. I would pick up the dog chit and return it to the neighbors yard. SCREW HIM.

I have the same problem but I really believe in my case its better to just let it go. They are otherwise great neighbors and they never complain about my dog barking a lot. But my dog does at least poop in his own yard. Sometimes its just easier to let it go.

well here is one that my brother did he scooped it up and put it in a bag and left it on their front porch by their front door . He lit the bag on fire and knocked on their door and yelled fire . When they came out they stomped on the bag and got dog doo all over them after that they never let their dog run loose again . But you could try the animal control people and see if they will speak to them. That is outrageous behavior from a neighbor.

My neighbors dog does the something,I don't want to get into it with my neighbors so all I can do is wait for the dog or the people to die or move.

call the animal control officer and have him trap the dog on your property and take it to the pound. The neighbor will have to pay to get him back and, depending upon you local ordinances, could be cited for allowing his dog to run at large.

A lot of states have different rules on things, your best bet is to call your local poilice department, tell them that you have already ask your neighbor nicely to stop it, and he has not. If they can not help you, they can certainly point you into the right direction, along with the numbers on who can handle this situation.
