For some reason, yesterday, I developed upper back pain that hurts mostly in my ride side just underneath my shoulder and sometimes extends into my neck. It kept growing worse, I could barely sleep last night, and now it hurts to put a shirt over my head and turn my head to the right side... sometimes even yawning hurts. I don't know what caused this... I'm only 21 years old. The only thing I can think is that I sit at a computer often. Will this go away on its own? I have no health insurance. I just took 2 extra strength tylenol so I'm hoping that will dull some of the pain.

Seems to me it's stress...think about what's troubling you and try to see how to improve/solve it.

Have a massage with a menthol cream and rest (all at no or very very low cost) :)

Good luck, and relax!

I am not a doctor but I have had that problem, it is possible you have lifted something and have caused injury to your lower back, 1-6 disks hard to say without seeing a doctor. But try a Ice cold pack then a heat pack every 20 minutes, this may help you, if it does not go away after a week you need to see a doctor. If thee is swelling or redness go to a emergency ROoM or a urgent care office to get it checked out. A urgent health care giver is not expensive it's about the same as a doctor appointment and they Will see you right away and will normally make payment arrangements.

These are classic symptoms for someone who sits at a computer all day, usually with the monitor to the left of their head. If possible, switch the monitor position to the other side every 3-6 months.
You likely have a subluxation of the cervical region (neck) and need Chiropractic treatment. Yoga and stretching will alleviate the symptoms.

Good luck

.Tramadol is what I use and I too do not have insurance so going to the doctors office is unaffordable to me. Tramadol is generic for ultram, so it is more affordable. Tramadol is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. It also may be used to treat pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint pain. Tramadol works by decreasing the brain's perception and response to pain. It also reduces the size or magnitude of the pain signal passed from one nerve to another. available online from a US licensed and located pharmacy.. FAST Overnight shipping so relief is only a day away.. Good luck Dear.

Try not to sit at the computer so long in one position.I know you probably can't get away from your desk. But you can stand up and type, turn from side to side in chair.Stretch raise your arms up over your head.bend over as to pick something off ground.I think you get the picture as to what to do.Use a warm compress at night.Or get some ICEY HOT, or Ben Gay to put on area at night.

I suggest you go and see your doctor. I had something simlar to this a few months ago and it ended up being fluid on my lung, although it didn't hurt in my neck area.

Dont leave it any longer get yourself checked out it could be nothing but a strained muscle but you need to find out.

i would recommend getting deep tissue massage.
if you go to a well trained 1 (should have about a year of training)
don't be afraid to ask about their training
they can probably help the pain
if not they may have a pretty good idea whats going on after feeling around
hope this helps
