All VW's are great cars. I have a Jetta, but I would buy a beetle too. On top of the cars looking great, they come standard with the best safety equipment on the market. I'm in love with VW!

Yes, the oil changes are more expensive. But you don't have to get the oil changed as often. A VW oil change is every 5000 miles, instead of 3000. So it almost balances out.

I'd recommend a VW to anyone, with the exception of the 99-02 Turbos, as they had a huge problem with the ignition coils in those cars. VW replaced all of those faulty coils under a warranty recall, so arguably even those should be fine now if the service was performed.

Very sporty, quick, nimble, fun to drive, lots of front-passenger room, lots of passenger safety, and it's the safest small car to be in if an accident occurs.

VW is routinely awarded from various mags & pubs "Best interiors" in any class, any price range. Nicer than a Rolls or a Bentley, huh? Sweet :)

The diesel and the plain gas-engine New Beetle are very reliable. Some kids whine & gripe online about the car, but a kid can destroy a Sherman Tank if they drove it, so no matter what they drive, it will seemingly "fall apart". You'll see a lot of "My teemage daughter had this car..." or "I'm 17 and got this car and it's a piece of crap!" :Þ Go figure, hehe.

I'm on my 4th new VW, and have also had, um... 5 used VWs and 2 used Audi's along the way [VW & Audi are the same company] and a few domestic cars, but I'll not get into that, and every VW/Audi has been 100% problem free, with the exception of one Audi that all of the lights [!!!] would turn off once in a blue moon while you were going down the road at night. In my experience otherwise, VWs are fully reliable, and tons of fun to drive.

Drive it for yourself and see what you think about it.

I hope that helps~

Yes the beetle is a great car!! The beetles 1998-2002 had a couple electrical issues, but 2003 and up are amazing cars! I have a 2001 beetle that I absolutely love! and now have a 2007 Beetle Convertible! I love it! I wouldn't have been happier with any other car!!

I have a GTI and its great! Ive seen the Beetles and they are really nice too. The interior is fun and spacious, and the car itself is a unique shape that gives it a different kind of style... I like it.

Outsides, yes. Engine reliability, no. Check carquest.com for more information in this. I was about to buy a Beetle last spring but when I researched the issue, I decided "No, not today." I purchased a different car with much better reliability issues.

My husband loves his. I've driven it a bunch and I like it a lot too. His is an '03. The only problem we've found is costs lots of $ to get anything fixed on it cause the parts aren't readily available. Not to mention it costs about $50/$60 dollars to get the oil changed cause it has to be synthetic oil. Even though he likes it, he wants to trade it in soon on an American made truck.
