I have a MTX thunder 9500 and when it is connected and the volume turned to a moderate level it emits a terrible droning sound as if something is loose on it. The speaker cone looks fine and underneath the woofer looks fine. I just bought it, is there a common problem with the cones on these things and if so, is it expensive to get fixed?

If you just got it you should have a warranty... Oh wait let me guess you bought it online from a unauthorized dealer. Anyone reading this needs to beware it is happening. Guys buying seconds, selling them really cheap but when it gets down to it no warranty no backing. Hit up a real authorized dealer like Pure Xtreme...

a common practice for years is to run subs and amplifiers for a length of time and then put them on auction sights as brand new, looks brand new, smells brand new, but it is not! some elite few that run these sound offs are very good at running them very hard for a few events then posting it all and then moving on to the next big thing,it may work great for the first little while ,but it has already had a very hard life, and sometimes it is already damaged.BUY FROM AUTHORIZED DEALERS! what may seem like a deal now may not later, not all competitors do this, just a hand full.

i bet you that is making a weird smell too... it is because the subwoofer has overextended its self. It will greatly lessen the life of the subwoofer.. But it will still go for a while. If i was you i would go ahead and start saving for a new one.. those subs run like 800 bucks right?
