what are some sweets that Canadians abroad would miss that would be a good gift to give a Canadian abroad?

Im in Australia and looking for some candy or treats to buy a Canadian friend who is homesick - what is something she would get a kick out of getting from back home?

I disagree about the maple syrup, yeah it's FROM Canada but it's not really something Canadians eat on a regular basis. Also I personally have tons!

Oh, whatever you get, get it from Canada, you need the French and English on the labels. Actually anything with that would be great. Kellogg's The Best To You/ Le Meilleur Bonjour I remember learning that was no translation at all...

Tell her she's lucky you speak English and aren't insane...


Edit: yeah, beer! What was I thinking? Doesn't have to be good beer (Sleeman's, Fin du Monde), it can be Molson Canadian or even Moosehead (which I've never seen in Canada but have here).

You must find the right institute which can offer you a good academic standard. Bangalore and Hyderabad are cities which have many good colleges. You are advised to select the right one only after personally visiting, discussing with the faculty there and getting a feel of the place. Your place of choice may have an additional consideration pertaining to your roots. For example, If your ancestors came from North India, most likely your food and living habits must be similar to North Indians. So you must pick up some place in North India. This will make adjustment to new surroundings faster. There are quite a few good colleges in Delhi, Chandigarh which you can locate from websites.

Well, depending on where she is from in Canada, sometimes a local chocolateur(?) could be favoured, i.e. Rogers Chocolates, or Morden's Chocolate (in Manitoba). A lot of the regular chocolate bars we see actually originated in other countries like England. etc...

Laura Secord is another Canadian choice.

Of course you can NEVER go wrong with Tim's. But what about Second Cup?

Beer or wine (BC, Niagara regions) if you can get it to her.

I might suggest, a copy of her city/town newspaper, favorite Canadian magazine.

I used to tape and send to my brother in Japan, copies of his favorite television shows, and the evening news.

There is a relatively new trend that has taken over Canada. Don't laugh, its chocolate covered placenta. It is extremely healthy and extremely rare. Mothers are reluctant to give out placentas to Cadburrys chocolate.
On the same lines chocolate covered lamb meat is also popular among the poorer sect.
