Has he recently had any vaccines? Distemper, Parvo Virus, or Hepatitis viral shots? He could been experiencing symptoms of the virus.

Have you been keeping him indoors with other pets, or in a kennel recently? It could be kennel cough.

It also COULD be Hookworms.
Signs and symptoms of hookworm infestation can include abdominal cramping, colic, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, anemia in severe cases, weakness, dry cough. Hookworms infect dogs by penetrating the paws or when the dog eats grass and soil. It is also important to know that the female hookworm can produce up to 30,000 eggs per day.

Be WARNED that it also could be: Heart-worm
Heart-worms are parasites which a dog ingest by drinking water in which mosquitoes have laid eggs. The dogs drinks the eggs which in turn infect the dog's heart. Heart-worm is a life threatening parasite!

A Heart-worm can grow up to 14 inches long and live in the heart and pulmonary arteries of the infected dog. Dogs become infected when a mosquito sucks a larval heart-worm out of an infected dog or coyotes bloodstream and deposits it into a new dog. As the heart-worms increase in numbers and grow in size they take up space in the heart and pulmonary arteries causing inflammation and the heart must work harder to get blood into the vital organs. As the heart and pulmonary arteries become plugged with heart-worms the blood will clot and the dog will not survive. The dog may not show signs and symptoms of heart-worm infestation for up to two years. The most obvious signs are dry, soft chronic cough, shortness of breath, nervousness, weakness, fatigue and exercise intolerance. Although humans can contract heart-worm, it is very rare.

call the vet, something is wrong, could be a simple infection that a shot or pills would clear up - in the mean time try the standard cooked ground beef and white rice to try and stimulate the appetite and settle her stomach. You really need to call the vet, ASAP
