Read lots of books, newspapers and magazines. Keep a dictionary to hand (a pocket dictionary is a great idea as you can carry it around with you) and use it to check words that you don't know the meaning of. Also, a thesaurus is an invaluable tool for broadening your written vocabulary, as well as spoken.

I suppose you can read a dictionary, but why not just read instead. Read read read. I could stock a decent sized used bookstore with all of the books I have ever read. If you come across a word you cannot reason out through context of what you're reading, then go ahead and grab a dictionary and look it up. Have fun and enjoy the learning process, don't make it seem like studying.

The best t way is to buy a book like Word Power Made Easy.It gives you a systematic list of words whick you can learn instead cramming a lot of unrelated words which you will not remember.

The best way is to find the information and integrate that into your daily conversations. Word of the day calanders work for alot of people.. I read the dictionary for fun. ( dont laugh ) But I find some words that I find interesting and I try and use those words every day. Alot of my friends talk to me so they can learn new words.

Read a page of a dictionary once a week; find a word that you like and understand, and use it appropriately at the next opportunity. Also, try playing scrabble. May help.

The best way is to read books or newspaper columns. If you hear or see a word you don't know, remember it and look it up or ask the person what it means. I always ask, I don't feel ashamed at all.

you could either pull up words from the dictionary...or use a word calendar
and the most effective way is to use the word atleast thrice in conversation!! that helps a lot.
