I feel your pain, sister. It's been quite a while since I really struggled, but I do remember the dark valleys. Forcing myself to do something fun/recreational was usually temporary relief, but doing something productive, accomplishing something that needed to be done, provided the best, longest-lasting kind of relief. This was especially true of jobs that were simple, outdoors, and required at least some physical exertion. An example might be a yardwork task, such as raking up all the leaves in the yard. I found that obtaining full benefit required finishing the task, not leaving it only partly done. I suspect the effectiveness of a particular remedy varies with gender and personality type, but I figured it couldn't hurt to share with you what worked for me.

What level of "function" are you talking about? Work-related or supporting your own human being? If former - schedule time for yourself and allow yourself to not take any action. Allow yourself to just sit and do nothing at all for like an hour. It might relax you. Catch this moment and remember how you feel. Feeling goes away with time (any feeling for that matter) but your mind and body will remember how to get there. If it is latter - you can't even get out bed - then you really should seek therapy, but mainly - just get out and do somthing, doesn't matter important or not, just take some action and praise yourself even if it is small. If it is a real problem then you should see a phychiatrist or a therapist.

I just do things to relax me. I have general anxiety disorder. I take bubble baths, go walk around at stores (try not to buy anything lol), research online. If you still can't find anything, you should find support groups around where you live for anxiety. Hope this helped! :)

I suffer severe anxiety and my doctor has me on clonazepam. It's a little weaker than valium.I also suffer from panic attacks and take paxil for that.Talk to your doctor and hopefully he will understand and prescribe you something.Sometimes they don't want to cause these drugs are habit forming. You just have to make it clear that you need something.Good luck.
