I put a "light layer" on my bodyboard only when I was wearing a wetsuit to provide extra grip. If the water is warm enough, you should not have to use wax. If you need grip, then apply wax to the board in the areas where needed.

Its actually a personal choice with bodyboarders , unlike surfers who need some form of friction to stay in contact with the board.

Of course you do! You will slip not matter what others may say. I have been surfing/body boarding my entire life. One warning however, you must get a rash gard because it can give you a pretty bad rash with or without the wax.

i used to use some wax by where i would place my hands to keep my grip, but that's about it.

no waxing is for surf boards, so your feet have more grip. you don't really need grip on your tummy if your body boarding, thats what your hands are for.
