One reason is the laws are so weak when it comes to punishing these people. If the sentence for molesting or raping a child the first time is life in prison without the possibility of parole and if the person kills a child it's an automatic death sentence, things would be different. As it is now they might go to jail for a couple of months depending on how many victims and the extent of the sexual abuse and then they get out and are able to offend again and this time a childs life is in danger. Repeat offenders will kill a child in order not to go back to jail. You can't rehabilitate a child rapist! The system is so misguided and flawed and it's the children who are paying the price for it. I wish I was the person who was tasked with making sex offender laws regarding children. There'd be some serious changes!! Did you see the news report on the guy who was selling sex to Americans by children in the Honduras? Or the man who started raping his daughter at 6 and his other 2 daughters as well? AND he let his friends rape them too. He's been free all this time! I'd have executed him long ago!

It's the same number of idiots as 500, 200, 100, 50, 10 years ago. Victims are speaking up now so it seems like more.

I know. It is terrible. It is not only these days - has always been unfortunately.
I think it is a sickness just like other mental or physical ailments. I believe psychiatric help is in order but condition may never improve.
I hate to think of the poor victims lives that these people change forever.

They are not idiots. They are psycho. They prey on children cose children are so innocent, naive and defenceless. Isn't that an easy prey for the psychopath?
