He said: "we need to resolve the status of the illegal immigrants who are already in our country -- without animosity and without amnesty."
The Democratic party has already stated that they completely agree with the President in this matter. Does this mean amnisty is already dead for these criminals?

I hope so, America needs to put a stop to what this issue really is. ILLEGAL immigration! That is the biggest part of the issue. It is not a good idea to have a justice system that allows amnesty for something ILLEGAL!

Amnesty is not dead. What those words mean is that the law will be changed - a permanent guest worker program perhaps, with illegals being able to apply from inside the USA.

As they say, "Get rid of the hard bit in the title." With these words the President is trying to tell us that there will be no amnesty when we all know that is exactly what he wants.

surprising speech. His plan for Iraq is supported by ability of all the generals and the troops and that's maximum needed. Immigration will constantly be a concern till some sort of amnesty software is put in, which he consents must be performed. well-known, a large speech yet maximum Democrats as ususal could extremely turn their backs on Iraq and terrorism.

No, it means the Democrats will condemn the president for his stand.

Whatever Bush stands for, the Democrats must oppose. If Bush succeeds in anything he advocates the Democrats will look bad, therefore the Democrats must do anything they can to prevent any Bush policy from succeeding. The fate of the country plays no part in this calculation, only the advancement of Democratic power and the failure of Bush matters.

I don't think there will be any big changes Corporations need workers for jobs Americans wont get doing. And they also see it advantageous to have a large pool of cheap labor available
I wish it was not like this but there you are.

It means they will get away with it. If you or I break 1 law we get prosecuted but not these ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS! What crap! I don't know why I expected any more or less from MY government.
