The first Christians also didn't believe in the Trinity, it was a concept that they put into their religion later. It was a Pagan concept that had been around for millenia, and they only used it to draw more Pagans to Christianity.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Job 15:2-6 (NLT)
"You are supposed to be a wise man, and yet you give us all this foolish talk. You are nothing but a windbag. [3] It isn't right to speak so foolishly. What good do such words do? [4] Have you no fear of God, no reverence for him? [5] Your sins are telling your mouth what to say. Your words are based on clever deception. [6] But why should I condemn you? Your own mouth does!

No, your logic is flawed.
Just because I used to be atheist and am now a Christian, does that mean I'm a Christian that doesn't believe in God? Of course not!
Remember the story of Peter's dream, where the animals where brought down to him and he was told to kill and eat? Christians are no longer under Hebrew law, we have a new covenant with Christ.

Jesus told them that they needed to search their scriptures to see that he was the one that those in the past had written about.
God promised them that they would not understand. He did that as far back as the time of Moses, and he said that they would be jealous about it.

It doesn't really follow, but is nonetheless true. The exact origin of the triune god idea is obscure, and is in any event the concept is irrelevant.

maybe, maybe not. israel around the time was flooded with other cultures that were polytheistic. its not such a surprise that some of those cultures rubbed off on some of the jews. you'll notice how similar jesus imagery is to the imagery of the polytheistic cultures of old.
