Yes.

People giving me thumbs down need to blow the dust off their Bible and actually read it (and not just Revelations or Genesis...there are more books in there.)

Yes, the first Christians were mostly Jews and Samaritans. And actually Paul had to fight against the Jews and Peter leading them into becoming Jews. Because the Jewish Christians still believed in segregation, or no association with Samaritans or Gentiles. A Samaritan was 1/2 Jew and 1/2 Gentile. So Peter was considered the leader to the Jews and Paul was considered the leader to the Gentiles. Paul had to correct Peter about this. But hardly any Jews would associate with Gentiles in them days so mostly Samaritans were in Asia minor or Turkey and this was where most of the first Churches were started.
By the way Jesus was not a Jew or a Gentile and the Bible does say so! If Jesus was a Jew then he had a Jewish father or mother and this is absolutely false, Also Mary was not the mother or Jesus would have had weaknesses as all men do. Jesus was a child of Faith not of a man or woman. You do not know the scriptures to say so. Jesus was purely a child of God, and he had no sperm or egg from any person but God or it was not faith.

Yes, most the first Christians were first Jews. After all, Jesus was a Jew. John the Baptist was a Jew. Of course some of his first followers were Roman and other religions in the region as well. But for the most part they were originally Jew!

The first Christians were Jews. One had to circumcise and become a Jew and then christian It was Paul(Saul) who never saw Jesus in the flesh, who eventually preached to the Gentiles and did away with necessity of becoming Jewish first. Jesus believed he was the son of God and the Messiah sent to redeem the Jewish Nation. He preached in temples. Some Jews accepted him as the expected messiah but the majority did not. Jesus believed he was sent to redeem the Jewish nation the chosen people of God. Hence he did not preach to the gentiles. It was Paul( who was called Saul) who decided to preach to the gentiles and developed the Christianity as practiced today. Without Paul Christianity of today would not exist.
Read the New testament that has been translated into modern English especially Paul s letters to the early Churches

it really is dependent on the time line you use and whether you consider the pagans as early Christians or not . I think the first Christians in fact were Christians from various back rounds if you are referring to the fish mongers that became apostles aside fro Paul a Roman and hence pagan most likely . some may have been Jews but the early church is referred to as judio-christian by the Catholic church the earliest formal representational group.
gnostics also followed christ does that make them Christian?

What did Martin Luther, the Protestant Reformer, state about the Bible? In his "Commentary On St. John," he stated the following: "We are compelled to concede to the Papists that they have the Word of God, that we have received It from them, and that without them we should have no knowledge of It at all." Regardless of what non-Catholic Christians may think or say, according to secular, objective historians, the Catholic Church alone preserved Sacred Scripture throughout the persecution of the Roman Empire and during the Dark Ages. All non-Catholic Christian denominations owe the existence of the Bible to the Catholic Church alone. Why did God choose the Catholic Church to preserve Scripture if It is not His Church?
>>>>>> "Let us note that the very tradition, teaching, and faith of the Catholic Church from the beginning, which the Lord gave, was preached by the Apostles, and was preserved by the Fathers. On this was the Church founded; and if anyone departs from this, he neither is nor any longer ought to be called a Christian." St. Athanasius ("Four Letters to Serapion of Thmuisc," c. 360 A.D.)

The first Christians were the Apostles and yes, they were all Jews! The first believers and congregations were Jewish! Then the word of God and the good news about Jesus was preached to the gentiles. This was in fulfillment of Old Testament prophesy it says, "I have made you a light to the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth."

Until the time of the pouring out of the Holy Spirit, they were drawn from the Jews. They were consider a Sect of Judaism. When the Holy Spirit was poured out, those who received it gained the ability to speak other languages, making it easier to spread God's Word to other lands. Of interest, they were going house to house trying to teach their Jewish Brethren that the rituals, traditions, and observances (holidays) dating back hundreds of year was no longer valid. Sound like anyone you know? Saul of Tarsus was a highly educated individuals in the religious arts, who felt this new Jewish Sect was a cult and needed to be put down, even by force. It took a miracle for him to learn he was wrong.

*Yes, until Acts chapter 10 and then comes Cornelius and his household, but God had to come to Peter in a dream and command him to go and preach to these Gentiles. Then when Paul was converted he was sent to the gentiles and soon the Gentiles out numbered the Jewish Christians and this was about 60 years after Jesus died that the Jews were outnumbered by the Gentiles. They have outnumbered the Jewish Christians ever since. ****
