If he wants to keep a lovely lady like you he shouldn't need reminding.
Okay, that's a little harsh. Consider asking a mutual friend to remind him for you without saying you put him up to it. Or if you live together or he has reason to see your calendar, write in big, red letters "buy v-day gift" a day or two before the 14th.
Or be a little more direct and ask him how much the limit should be on the prices of your gifts - use language that implies there's no question about whether or not gifts are happening. Put it on yourself so he doesn't feel threatened, like "I'm going shopping for your Valentine's Day gift this afternoon and I was wondering how much we're going to spend this year. Just so I know."
Or plan a night out (or in) for the two of you, with no gifts involved. You can get his input on what he'd like to do, or even have him plan it, and then take a photo or two during the evening. Once those shots are in frames around the house, you'll have the memento you are longing for.
You sound very young and as if this is a first Valentine's for one or both of you. Give it time, and if this year isn't the fairy tale you wanted, you'll be closer and more in synch next year.

well first of all.I believe you should not have to ask your bf to get you something. He knows Valentines days is coming soon and if he truly loves you then you will get something very special from him.I would not worry about the future ahead just be there with him day by day and when Valentines hits will see if he gets you something. Love is Love and if he cares he will surprise you. I hope the best on Valentines for you

I can't see how he could forget that V Day is coming up - considering the amount of cards and lovey-dovey stuff etc that is being put up all over the stores etc. Sounds like an excuse to me. Drop a hint about what you are getting him - if even after that he still doesn't buy you anything, maybe its time to evaluate whether or not you want such a selfish person in your life....

If hes broke give him the money to buy you something lol. If he just forgets give him a little tease of what he will get when he comes to see you with a gift on valentines day.

unfortunately i'm kind of in the same boat. my boyfriend will occassionally ask me "when valentine's day is".. and i'm still not quite sure if he's joking and is going to surprise me, or if he's serious and i'm getting my hopes up for nothing...
i don't think there's a good way to ASK him for it.. but dropping subtle hints about how much you LOVE flowers.. or when going to the store and seeing all the v-day decorations, expressing how sweet and romantic the day itself is.. is usually a good way to go.

just tell him...communication is the most important part of a relationship and you should just say to him (in a loving, jokey kinda way...) love, I hope you don't forget to get me something for valentines day :)

"Forgetful" my ***. The word is CHEAP and thoughtless. Find a better man girl! If you can't yet see that he is a bum.....send yourself flowers the day before Valentines', {from a secret admirer}, and watch him squirm...just for fun.
