di - 2
mono - 1
when the seed sprouts a dicot has 2 leaves(cotyledons), a monocot has only one leaf (cotyledon) e.g grasses, bamboo, lilly,

in simple terms most trees and shrubs are dicots.

A dicot also has a taproot, horizontal leaf veins coming off the central vein, 2 leaf seeds when sprouting, and a Stem with vascular bundles in a ring.

monocot has a fibrous root system, parallel veins in the leaf, multiple vascular bundles in the stem, 1 leaf seed

Cactus are dicots. the type you are able to usually tell is thru leaf veins (parallel or internet), yet it is understandably demanding in cactus. the different straight forward way is thru vegetation: many times, monocots have flower aspects in 3's and dicots in 4's or 5's. yet cactus have extra petals than you will choose to count quantity. in case you ever observed a seedling cactus, it would have 2 cotyledons ("seed wings"), yet how many cactus seedlings have you ever viewed? in case you opt for to do extra effective than take my be conscious for it, take the be responsive to the USDA--see hyperlink.
