Because God is not 1 + 1 + 1=3. God is 1 X 1 X 1=1. Get it?

It makes sense that a being so complex and unfathomable that could create the universe might be hard to visulaize or imagine with our limited 3 dimensional thinking.

And there is evidence of the Trinity in the OT.

Genesis 1:2, 26; 3:22; 11:6-7; 19:24; Deut. 6:4; Job 33:4; Psa. 2:7; Isa. 63:16;

Because the Holy Trinity is one being. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one; making Christians monotheistic. The "Trinity" is just it's title. I know it's kind of hard to follow.
Tri+Unity = Trinity

And the beileif of the trinity has dated back all the way to the 1400's... here's a scripture.
And after being baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased." (Matt. 3:16-17)
-Spirit of God(Holy Spirit) desending as a dove
-The voice is God
-And, of course Jesus
There are plenty of other verses out there that support it. Here is a painting by Massaccio. It shows God as the being behind the cross, Jesus as the one on the cross, and a dove representing the Holy Spirit. I'm not using the painting as proof I just thought it was interesting you should ask this question. We were just talking about it in my Art History class today.

True Christians do not believe in the trinity. It is a false teaching. Some try desperately to try to make the trinity appear as if it came from the Bible. For instance, take a look at "seekfind's" trinity proofs:

Deut 6:4 Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One.

Do you see 3 co-equal, co-eternal persons making up one God here? No!

John 10:30 ‘I and My Father are one

How can this verse prove the trinity when it is missing a third person?

1 John 5:7 ‘For there are three who bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word (Jesus, Son of God), and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one’.

Do you see anything in this verse that says the Father, Word, and holy spirit are equal to one another and that they make up one God? No!

Matthew 28:19 ‘Go, therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name (singular) of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,’

Just because the 3 are mentioned in the same verse, does it say here that they are all equal to one another or that they are God? No!

There is not a single scripture in the Bible that even hints of a trinity. True Christians worship the God of Jesus Christ--Jehovah. (Ps. 83:18)

The Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit... Ok well this is a tough concept to grasp for most people.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

God, the Father, sent His Son (who is also the Word mentioned above), to die on the cross for our sins, so that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Now, Jesus, the Son, said he would go and when goes the "Counselor" would come. This Counselor or comforter is God's Holy Spirit that well I dunno how to explain that...He is just here. Look at John Chapter 16, it might help.

If you are truly interested, I suggest you go to the New testament of the Bible, the last half of the Bible, and look for the book of John. If you do not have a Bible you can go to www. crosswalk.com and search the book of John.

I hope you find the answer :)

What is the doctrine of the trinity? It says there is one God and 3 persons in the Godhead. This is not a logical contradiction. If I said there was only one person in the Godhead and yet at the same time 3 persons in the Godhead, that would be a contradiction. If I said there was only one God and yet 3 Gods, that would also be a contradiction. But one God and 3 persons in the Godhead is not a logical contradiction. It's certainly a mystery. I'll admit I don't understand it. We perceive things by comparing them to other things on earth. Since there is nothing to compare the Trinity to on earth, It is hard for us to understand. If I went out into the sahara desert and found a native there who had never been outside of the sahara and had no modern electronics like a radio or TV or computer and said to him " there's a beautiful water falls in america called the Niagra Falls", He might say "water falls, what's that"? But if I had a giant pitcher of water and I poured it out in front of him and said "that's what it is but only on a much larger scale", then he might understand because I was able to compare it to something else on earth to illustrate it to him. But, like I said, there is nothing on earth to compare the trinity so it is hard to understand. But just because we don't understand something, it doesn't logically follow that it isn't true. It just means we don't understand it. I don't understand how light could be in wave form and particle form at the same time. That just doesn't seem possible. Yet it is true. I don't understand how time could have physical properties but yet it does(gravity influences time). I can't picture what 6 or 8 dimensions would look like. There's a lot of things I don't understand(mostly in quantum physics) and yet they are true. If God is infinite and we are finite you would expect that there would be some things that we, with our finite minds would be unable to comprehend about an infinite being in our present state.

Christians in line with Bible told us that trinity is one so its religion claimed as monotheism. But I think it is unlogical if there are 3 in 1 i.e holy spirit,Allah/God the father and Jesus as the son of God..The 3 elements are not the same kind so it can not be meant as 1.In our holy book Al Qur'an God has corrected by saying that Allah is the only one God.God has no son,no wife and no parents.Jesus was only a human who had been appointed by Allah as a messenger and a prophet.Jesus was the son of Mary the virgin who had no husband.Holy spirit was only Gabriel angel. who blew soul to the Mary's womb by the instruction of God.So there are 3 in 3 kinds that is not in one.In line with this bases we believe that christians believe that God has an ally not only one. This principle is against with monotheism.

all of us it particularly is a Christian believes that Jesus is God. in the experience that they assert something else, they don't look to be a Christian, because the defining conception of Christians is that Jesus the Christ is the only technique of salvation. The Trinity is perhaps a kind of non secular matters that non-believers shouldn't contact, because it purely proves non-conception. in case you truly look after a treatise on the Trinity, examine the e book that I reference right here, or a minimum of the financial ruin on the Trinity.

1. not all christain denominations believe in the trinity(there are hundreds, sadly) but the ones that do pretty much say: God is 3in1. God is 1 in 3. Each of the 3 have their own personality. Each of them love eachother, the world, and human beings. Each of them is coequal&eternal. BUT THE REST IS A MYSTERY AND WILL REMIN A MYSTERY!!

Holy Trinity isn't suggesting there is three gods otherwise they arn't a trinity. In christianity, there is only one God, a three person God or one God made up of three people (Father,Son and Holy Spirit) and all three people make one God.
