the first answer is right, metal on the sole, spikes are best but these days you'd prob get arrested so go with the circles. the prob is the soles u mentioned are for gripping concrete etc but wen theres a layer of ice the dont work. i've got a couple of thumbtacks on the bottoms of my wellies, it does help a bit but its up 2 u if u wanna do that 2 yor shoes :)

You could try shoes that have a good tread. If you are female you could try shoes with pointed heels - Go carefully mind. The pointed heel will be more likely to dig into the ice than a flat sole shoe, thereby offering more grip.

Snow Shoes?

There's these really cool things called YakTraks that might be able to give you some assistance. They stretch around the shoe you're wearing and have metal rings in the bottom so you can get some more grip.

i would try a pair of dr martins and if they still make you slip try put in salt in the tread of the shoe it will give you a little bit of roughness to hopefully keep you upright and not on your bottom..like to know where you live we had a light dusting of snow last night but there is nothing left this morning cant wait to have a good downfall of snow here!!!!!

Best bet is to stay put, I nearly feel over this morning outside of my local B and Q in front of a load of work men. How embarrasing would that have been. I don't think it matters what type of shoe your wearing, unless you have tennis rackets strapped to your feet or ice boots, you a snookered. Stay in doors put up your feet and have a coffee with some Hob Nobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
