Over washing with strong cleansers will only encourage more oil production so avoid it if you can.
Moisturising every evening with sea buckthorn is an astringent oil that will help balance out your own oil production. Many people think moisturiser or oils will make oily skin worse, whereas in fact it discourages your own production whilst at the same time moisturising. Oil applied to the skin can actually draw out excess oil from your sebaceous glands... sea buckthorn is an all round excellent skin conditioner and instantly absorbed by the skin.

These facial tissues are great to use during the day to blot any excess oil, but just gently press themonto the oily area, don't rub...

Gentle exfoliant once or twice a week may help also. It gets rid of the dead layers of skin, therefore exposing your cells to more oxygen in the air....

you must wash your face initially with warm water and mild soap to open the pores;this will clean out the dirt and dead cells more easily. after that, rinse it with cold water to close the pores and lock in moisture. if this does not work, try using acne-aid bar( very good for oily skin) as a substitute for your bath soap. don't use astringent or any alcohol based cleansing agents. they dry your skin fast on the surface, but after a while, your skin gets much much more oily because the oil glands tend to produce more oil to compensate the abrupt dryness of your face. stay out of the sun and make sure to drink plenty of water to rejuvenate your skin. do not use lots of make up as this will clog your pores, the oil gets trapped and bacteria sets in, thus developing acne.

Do not wash your face using soap, use a facewash(i.e., meant for the face).
After washing your face, apply a good toner which contains astringent - this you can find at supermarkets, for instance, at 'Health n Glow'. Take some cotton and pour some toner on to it and dab it over your face and neck. This will close all pores on your skin.
Repeat this morning and evening everyday. Hope this would help.

use oil control films like the clean and clear blue paper they are advertising. those were really awesome. or you could also use facial wash that could lessen oil production in your face.
