Well, isn't that because there's not much controversial about Dogs? You like them, you don't. But if you want to know what to do about dental hygiene it's a straightforward question. Just an exchange of information really.
Religion now, that's a different story! People have different opinions from the start and sometimes things get a bit, well, heated shall we say!
But that's part of R&S. Feathers get ruffled and bigotries get aired. But for those who are prepared to ride out the storm and listen a bit, then it can be both educational and amusing. Personally I like my thoughts provoked now and then. I know I'm never going to agree with everyone's opinion. But I'm happy to accept that.
A matter of personal preferences perhaps?

People suffering from a psychological disease are mostly taken to be religious. They consider it their right to impose their ideas over the society.Actually religion is the knowledge to attain the pleasure of the Creator. If someone is infatuated with that pleasure and considers it important that all other friends or members of his society also get benfit, he does it through love and affection not by coercion. If someone is using coercive tactics, he is suffering from religiosity which is primarily a mental illness.Athiests are fundamentalists, they merely taken pride in rejection just to waist others' time. They are neither sincere to the society nor they have scruples as their ideals.Agnostics are basically selfish, who just want to gain cheap popularity, neither their is depth in their vision nor they have any respect for the truth.Their slogan"Live and let live is up to the extent of their incapabability to snatch or usurp others rights otherwise they are as cruel, selfish and ruthless as anyother bully. They are like starks waitng for the fish to come near them.
Quest for the absolute truth is in fact ingrained in the human souls and keeps on agitating them for its persuit; otherwise there will not be any difference between human beings and animals. When the best human souls shall return to the Creator, they shall be satisfied ones.

You are being unfair to religious people. Only a very small percent bother to answer religious questions because of the idiocy of many respondents and their glib remarks. I am not Christian but many have shown great kindness in helping me to understand their faith. Most people claiming to be atheists are simply rebellious to their own heritage and going through a period of doubt. They pretend that they believe in nothing so as to show that they don't care. Agnostics are those who haven't decided what they should believe. Given 24 hours to live, I am sure the vast majority would return to some belief.

There's good and bad in all 3 camps. There are some people in Y!A though who are interested in a frank and open exchange of views, but there is a heck of a lot of intolerance about.
Worst offenders in my opinion are:
Christian: You're going to hell because....
Atheist: You're stupid because you believe....
Neither of these, in my humble opinion, are intelligent responses and are neither going to encourage open debate or convince anyone.
Based in insecurity, maybe? Either that or just plain old ignorant intolerance.

I give you truth there is a God and one day soon there will be a time of judgment for things we do or don't do. If you offend my beliefs in God, I feel I have a right to defend what I believe... just like you.
Perhaps you feel uncomfortable around the presence of God within Christians or maybe had an encounter with someone professing to know God and formed an opinion and never knew the joy that comes from being ready to meet death & eternity.

Hi, Have you ever heard that saying, "There are two things you should never discuss with other people. One is religion and one is politics." Those two subjects will bring out the worst in most people because people have unchangeable views regarding both. It is a no win situation to try to change someones affiliation and everyone thinks that their choices are the right ones.

Shall i bow in prayer to the god or sometimes god of generalization funny how I just used the live and let live cliche and now some fence sitting fool wants to accuse all atheist as I am one for being as he actually is . that took some real gall.
plenty of religious confusion and morality has been delineated
over these portals of Q&A . but this one just exancerbates the negative for some inane generalizations. oh well I must be tolerable yet not inert.
Any of them are capable of kindness but the truth is devoid of passion as that is only a human trait . grow up my friend this is the R&S venue not the politics and carnegie chapter.
peace out
peace out

I'm really sorry to dissapoint you, but I'm a Christian and I go by the saying of live and let live. Everybody has the right to believbe in whatever they want, I just don't agree with their breaking moral laws (which should be the same for everybody) or with mocking other people and their beliefs

Religion & politics...people take them so seriously ! I think most of the really blinkered comments made by religious people are actually made by people who have missed the point of their own religion.

If you asked a question about a puppy being nailed to a cross, you might get a different perspective. Think I'll be getting a few thumbs-down now.
