Hi there...drooling generally is indicative of either periodontal disorders, accidental ingestion of toxins, renal (kidney) failure. I would lean more towards renal failure due the fact the cat is drinking an excessive amount of water. The symtoms clearly exhibit that this cat is seriously ill and may have a life-threatening condition, therefore, please consider having your rescued cat seen for URGENT medical attention.

Cats who come into new environments will be very frightened and nervous until they adjust. However, with illness this exacerbates the ability to adjust and will cry/meow frequently.

Strays also are a high risks for being infected with feline diseases which are common to outdoor cats. If you have other cats in the home it's important to quarantine the rescue cat away from the others at all times to eliminate any chance of exposure of spreading highly contagious and incurable feline diseases as well. The cat could have a thyroid or bladder problem. That might not be sweat, but a festering wound.
