I guess my question was a little vague. I know that some educated people and health care workers also treat people badly as well. Funny answer Korean. I have been doing this for 10 years and it just amazes me sometimes when I see it. I know that when people are very ill, they are not themselves and that goes the same for the family. At the end of it, nothing is personal, but in the moment, it feels like it is.

Well, you said it! Some really are ignorant, plain and simple.

HOWEVER, many people you are dealing with are a) sick, b) in pain, c) suffering, or d) dying.

That can evoke all kinds of emotions, and some are too ill to be aware of what is going on. Often they are scared, lonely, and in a new and stressful environment. Still others have dementia, mental illness, and behavioural problems.

To be successful in healthcare, you need to realize that. It's usually nothing personal.

first of all, i wouldn't assume that just "ignorant" people treat health care workers like crap.

even tho, there is no excuse...some people just know more about their actual issues regarding either their own health or health of a loved one. stress runs high in those who are ill or those who's loved one is ill. when someone is chronically ill, mental issues arrise...you just have to figure out a way to deal with it, or....

if you are a health care worker and can't deal with the stress, the field your in probably isn't the best one or maybe you need to change jobs-do something else in the same field-with less human contact. sounds crude, but it could be that your burned out.

furthermore, i've known doctors and specialists-even nurses more ignorant than the average human who treat patients as if they don't know what they are talking about-yet the patient certainly knows much more about their disease because they live in a malfunctioning body!

there was once a time where joint pain, brain fog, rashes and all sorts of symptoms weren't associated with liver disease. most good doctors know this isn't the case, but you still have those doctors who try to quick fix each symptom as seperate diseases, when all it takes for some with liver disease is treatment of the origin-the actual cause. and lets not forget that some medications for each bidirectional disease can be harmful-if not fatal!

i wish you luck...:o)

I always try to treat health care workers as nicely as I can because I figure that they'll take better care of me if they like me and they'll avoid me if they don't. Sometimes this works for me and sometimes it doesn't. I've had health care workers who have treated me super nice and others that have treated me like a piece of dirt. I guess people are just people. Some are nice and some aren't.

With all different kinds of people and personalities nowadays, that's a hard question.

But, if you treat a Proctologist like crap, you'll "get it in the end," literally.

You hit it on the nose, because they're ignorant and lacking manners.
