Ok why is everyone so sold on Earnhardt Jr. I know he has alot of fans out there and I have nttn against to tell ya the truth I hate Stewart now that guys a joke, seems like its never that fat as$ses fault when he takes 5 people out in a race, anyways what I dont understand is why Jr is so overrated. Im sick of people saying hes one of the best in the sport, let the guy win a championship and then tell me he's one of the best. He's been living off his dads name for way to long and needs to prove smttn on his pretty dam soon.

I totally agree. He is just a Average Driver. ITS HIS LAST NAME!!! The last 2 years he has won 2 races combined. He is very very overrated. Jr has proved nothing. NO CHAMPIONSHIPS!! and I don't think he every will win one! I also agree with that you said about Stewart, he is a loud mouth fool!!

First off...I'm not a huge Dale Jr. fan....but I appreciate him more every year. And here's why.....

1. I'm sick to death with these clean-cut, smooth talking, polished little brats who get a CUP ride and a million-dollar paycheck before the age of 21. Jr, despite being an Earnhardt, had to earn (no pun intended) his way into the cup series. He's down-home, laid back....I prefer he stays rough around the edges. It's a nice change of pace to the Kasey's, Jimmy's, Kurt's, Casey's, and Kyle's of racing. (while we're at it...I vote we ban anyone whos last name is Bush from every running in the BGN or Cup series.)

2. The Crew Chief / Team swap of the # 8 and #15 cars probably did more to hurt Jr's race career than anything else....but when things aren't working...you'll try almost anything to get back on-track.

3. He's not his dad, nor do I want him to be. His dad was a 'win at any cost' driver. Sure he was good, but how many cars did he send into the wall over the years to win a race??? That's a lot of 'cages rattled'. Jr. is a clean racer...he has earned the respect.

4. I think I'll start pulling for Jr, along with Happy, Robby and Tony this year. I like my drivers with attitude and the grit to back it up.

Okay, first of all are you a Gordon fan? Now seriously, he did win the Busch Series Championship a few years ago. Last year he came in fifth. (AHEAD of Gordon!) That's not a joke. Sure, He does have alotta fame and fortune off of his daddy and his name--no doubt. I like him because of the way he comes off during his interviews. He doesn't seem like the selfish jerk that some of the drivers seem to be. He doesn't blame everyone else when something goes bad. He is usually smiling and doesn't come off like he is God's gift to nascar. What he needs to win more often is some good teammates with good pit crews and good engines. If there were other DEI drivers near the front (like other winning drivers have) he would definitely win more races.

C'mon! Now to give the devil his due, Little E isn't the only driver basking in his predecessor's limelight. How come nobody ever mentions Kyle Petty? At least Jr. has won a few races recently. True, Adam probably would be driving Kyle's car had he lived. But I think Kyle is kept in the car to keep a Petty presence in NASCAR. Maybe the Petty's are going to skip a generation and Kyle will give up his ride when a great, great grandson to Lee Petty gets old enough to drive.

Well Jr is a good driver. I don't cheer for him but I also feel bad for him and what he is going through with his step mom. He deserves at least part ownership of DEI. I also understand his defending her when Harvick took shots at her recently. You can't knock the guy, really. He is among the best in the business.

As for Tony Stewart. Again he is among the best and if you were watching last season, He did lose a considerable amount of weight. He is on A very strict diet now as implemented by his personal dietitian.

I will say that Jr got a good start in Nascar because of his father. As far as living on his name for the past few years I think that is why he has been seen as "overrated." His dad has so much success as a racer, and I think there were lots of hopefuls out there that Jr would have the same success. His name "Earnhardt" gets him in a lot of trouble I think in how people view him. I do not think he would have such a fan base if he was not called Earnhardt Jr. Lets face it, if you took a pole of 100 American men and women 95 percent would know Jr, or Gordon. He is just used to market the sport because of his name..

So to answer your question, I think his dad's success gets Jr in a little trouble. Diehard Senior fans were hoping Jr would be just as great as his dad, but you have to realize that the sport has changed a lot since then. Back then people had different motors, and totally different packages. Now days 90 percent of the car setup is done by Nascar to provide a level playing field. In fact if Senior was racing now his success would be hampered by the new style cars, and equality.

Senior won the championship in 80,86,87,90,91,93,94

Not taking anything away from Senior but if hes racing in todays races, he is going to be hard pressed to have this many back to back years of winning the championship.

24 days until we hit Daytona again!!!! GO 24!

not saying he's the best..but i have to kind of defend him a bit here. everyone says he's racing off of his daddy's name.. well here's the kicker to that... his daddy ain't in the car driving it everyweek and getting top 10's and good finishes. jr isn't an AWFUL driver.. but he's not the best.
everyone else expected him to be as good as his dad. now people are finally seeing jr as his own driver and the other part to that is.. jr is finally starting to grow into himself as a driver. give him some time and i think you'll see some real talent start coming out of that car.

to tell you the truth i hate Jr and one reason is i was at mis Michigan international speedway on fathers day and they had the drivers in the back of trucks going around the track and there was Jr but no Kerry and Kerry Earnhardt was at the track and was in the race but it just got to me seeing Jr and not seeing his bother in that truck because it was about paying respect to there father so Jr sucks that's why I'm a Jeff Gordon fan.

I agree with you on Jr. and I agree with you about Stewart. You are right, Jr. is living off of his dad's name. I think he is the most overrated driver in NASCAR.
And it's never Stewart's fault, yeah right. He never takes the blame for anything he does wrong.
Both guys drive me crazy, but Stewart does have more talent than Jr.

Jr is one of my favorite drivers, but everyone knows that some of his popularity comes from his last name. He is an above average driver, but definately not the best in the sport. That title goes to Tony Stewart.

Well i am a JR fan and sometime soon he is going win a championship, he might have had a good chance last year if vickers didnt take them out, and i know they figured it out it wouldn't of mattered, but a win does so much for confidence of a driver.
