First off, let me say that I disagree with people carrying around placards saying God hates anybody. As a Christian, I believe that God loves all of us, and paid the same Price to redeem us. What God hates is sin. And I believe He hates sin because it ultimately hurts us, not because He's just sour and judgmental that way.
I believe that homosexuality would be covered under adultery. The description of marriage in the bible is between a man and a woman, and that is the only relationship in which sex is permitted. It is also a covenant relationship, which is a commitment not lightly broken. In the Old Testament it was broken under penalty of death. (Adulterers were stoned.)
In that sense, marriage or unions of same-sex couples would be a problem (biblically) different than being covetous or forgetting the Sabbath. One can commit some sins occasionally without making them a lifestyle or making a commitment to commit them.
On a relational level most people understand and use this concept. If I step on your toe, but otherwise we have a good relationship, you're likely to forgive me. But if I make a commitment to stepping on your toe every time I see you, we have a problem. That's probably not going to be okay with you. And even if you could get past it for your own sake, (wore steel-toed shoes when you knew you would see me) I would still have a problem. If I have made a commitment to hurt you, that speaks to a problem within me.
I'm not saying that homosexuality is malicious intent. I am saying that any sin that becomes a lifestyle or is entrenched in a lifestyle is different than one that is not. And that commitment to such a sin alters one's relationship with God in a similar way to my decision to pinch your toes would affect my relationship with you. It creates a barrier.
I realize this is not a popular view or the only view. I have a problem with both extremes. On the one hand there are those who say God doesn't care (or there is no God) and so it doesn't matter. On the other, there are those who say God hates gays - and they themselves spew hatred. While I respect that each individual is responsible for his/her own belief and decision in this matter, because of my understanding I fear for those committed to a homosexual lifestyle.
As someone who cares about the emotional wellbeing of others, it saddens me that there is even a conflict. From everything I've learned so far in both psychology and sociology, the jury is still out on the nature vs. nurture debate. Regardless of how or why one is homosexual, they have a higher suicide rate - probably because of the stigma and strained relationships. The bashing is absolutely wrong. While I cannot in good conscience support homosexual relationships, I can support that human beings should treat each other with dignity and respect.

1. Without going too deep, God said not to do something and they did it anyway. That's all that matters. They did not even need to know why. 2. The Garden of Eden was a physical place (it is in the Bible that it was on earth), but that's a nice metaphor. 3. If mankind never strayed from God in the first place, there would be no choice. Knowing is different from causing. You shouldn't worry about why you are here, you should just enjoy being here. Ecclesiastes is a great place to read about life. 4. Yes. The concept of "always" hardly exists in logic but outside logic, it does. 5. I believe it all. If the supernatural does not obey logic then the water-splitting story is believable. 6. A false prophet has no power. Jesus' power came from God. Nobody else could ever do the things He did. 7. There is no "lesser sin." The degree that the sin is accepted and promoted = The degree it is opposed. Also, hypocrisy requires that one actually practice sins. We all sin, but we do not condone it. We are sinful by nature. 8. Have you actually read contradictions in the Bible or do you say there are contradictions in the Bible because it is a popular argument? I've read the whole thing. I can actually say there are none. And if you pointed out any, I'd be able to refute each statement. That's just from studying and seeking supernatural understanding. 9. It is written that before Jesus returns, everyone will have a chance to learn about Jesus. This is why we are missionaries for Christ. Somebody has to spread the word. This does not account for lives taken. It seems unfair but that's the way humans are. They kill their own race and they do not always care for their bodies. 10. He meant spread the word period. Some people are called to travel, others, like myself, can talk to people just like this. Whew! Anymore questions?

Well, if you are speaking of Fred Phelps bunch, I can't answer for why they carry those signs. I don't carry any signs but I do try to share the gospel message in a balanced fashion.
Homosexuality is a sin throughout scriptures among many others. Yes, it is an abomination but not the only one. It doesn't have to be a part of the ten commandments for it to be decried as something that will harm the one committing the sin against God. I mean, it's true that Christians can be whispering or backbiting and be lost because they have broken the first commandment and someone is hurt as a result. I, as an abused spouse, realized long ago that the real sin of abuse and which leads to divorce and all other ills in society is a lack of love. That's why it doesn't matter if you are a Christian and give your body to be burned, if you don't have charity it won't profit you anything. So, now that I've sorted our bunch out in applying the Word to us, let me apply it to you as well.
Your sins must be covered by the blood of Jesus for you to be saved. You already have heard the Bible verses in the new Testament which a simple dictionary will explain to you it's wrong. The only reason you need to understand that it's wrong is because once you realize you are guilty of sin and that your sins are worthy of death, then you can embrace the good news that Jesus Christ bore our iniquities and that you can be free from the burden of sin through faith in His shed blood. It's just plain wrong to preach against sin and cry "Repent" without following it through to the good news of Christ, the cross and Him crucified. That's the most important part right there. Can you grasp hold on that? It is life and that more abundantly and as long as you hold onto sin, it is robbing you of true joy and really living! I would sure like to see you take hold of life everlasting through Jesus Christ and be free from the chains that have you bound. There's just nothing like it in all the world.

you are right, people should be doing that, i hve alwyas said that to my personal friends.
However, two wrongs don't make a right.
ask youself the basic childhood question of why god created adam and eve and not adam and steve?
homosexuality is pointless and bears no fruit, ie children. if an entire species turned homosexual, it would become extinct.
besides, you really expect god to give you a checklist with a few points on it? you always have to read the fine print, in this case the rest of the bible. God gave you a whole manual ( the bible) on how to live a good life. 10 points alone cannot be a sufficient guide.
What i am trying to say is that just because something is not in capital letters doens't mean you should ignore it.
i would suggest you start reading your bible and get to know god more intimately. then you may get the whole picture for yourself, without bias from what other people have told you. i personally think homosexuality is wrong, just like adultery, etc. but then again i am not struggling with what some people call a biological propensity towards homosexuality. i do know that i tend towards other types of wrongdoing, like shopping too much with my husband's credit card when i get upset. this too is wrong, and i have to stop it, because it is just not right. even thought it feels really good to get that new outfit, plus the handbag and shoes, i should resist the temptation no matter how strong and life threatening it seems, because it is the right thing to do.

They might be trying to accuse someone else to throw off the fact that they are in sin. The fact is, is that homosexual acts are a sign of God giving people over to their own lusts according to Romans. People are going to hell not just because of this one particular sin, Jesus said that liars will have their part in the lake of fire, and adulterers God will judge.

One Pharisee, who was an expert on the law of Moses, asked Jesus this question to test him:
“Teacher, which command in the law is the most important?”
Jesus answered, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command.
The book of Psalm 119:97 puts it this way: Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. The "law" of God is the Bible (The Word of God). The Bible says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." That means, to love God means to love his "law"/commandments. To love God means to live according to the ways of the Bible. So, technically, it is in the ten commandments.

hi! if a most wanted criminal is not in the top 10, should we forget about him? In Leviticus the laws were passed and it stated that a man lying down with another man shall be put to death. It was one of the laws given out by God along with the main 10. Kinda like the bill of rights and the rest of the constitution.

Well they DO carve huge granite monuments that declare that it is a sin to make graven images of anything on earth OR in heaven.
But you're right, it IS odd how some people pick one or two of the minor sins from the old testament, and focus on them.
A few gems:
honoring the president because he's president is a sin...Lev 19:15 says to judge the person by the content of their character, NOT by their position...19:19 forbids wearing wool/linen mix 19:28 forbids tattoos. 25:8 forbids farming every 50th year
so far as rape, if you rape an unmarried woman who is unengaged, the punishment set forth in DEU 22:28-29 is that you must marry her and cannot divorce, and you must pay her father off...but if she's engaged, you're dead.
