or I suppose the same advice could apply for wedding planning?

First, do your research. Find out what other places in your area are charging. This will give you an idea of what you should be able to get away with. Then, speak to the manager...no one else! When speaking to the manager, remain calm and maintain eye contact. Say that their facility and services are lovely, but that their prices are out of your range. Ask if that is the best they can do to win your business. If you need to, cite the prices offered elsewhere for comprable services. Most importantly, you have to be prepared to walk away if you don't get the price you want!

assuming this is causing friction with everyones different ideas for the shower....to keep the peace consult the bride to be. she does not need to know details, but have her choose which friends' idea's you should go with.no hurt feelings.
