It would end with a glorious chaotic ending the two power full countries would become powerless countries they would commit suicide trying to kill each other.
But if one will stand I'd say it would be China!

First of all, this is highly unlikely. The Chinese government has shown time and time again how yellow-bellied they really are. Secondly, China might have a powerful economy but the amount of money they possess is no where near large enough to keep their infrastructure in tact in a time of where. Their infrastructure is hardly in tact in time of peace. They may have the largest population of any country but feeding, clothing and supplying an army is huge taks. China has no way of doing that. China has also been a world power for an extremely short period of time. Their military capability and technology is far exceeded by tried and tested forces like the United States, UK, Russia, Italy and even Australia and Canada.
China also appears to be heading towards civil war. The government is beginning to tighten down on censorship and the people are becoming more defiant. In 10 years China might be the new Russia. I wouldn't worry about them.
Worry about Iran, a country with plenty of money and a manageable population size that cares more about producing a military than feeding it's own people. Their disregard of democracy and political peace is unsettling.

if you are asking who would win that depends. If no nukes were involved and no outside help it might be a close call. China has a huge army and can increase that army with a huge population reserve. However, you must get that army to the battlefield. China would not win by invading the united states. The US would not win by invading China.

It depends who is the aggressor. If China is the aggressor then naturally our allied countries (what few we have left) would help us out along with the UN. Pretty fair fight I could imagine with thousands maybe even millions loosing their life. A more realistic question would be who would win if North Korea and USA fought...

US.....hands down....regardless of the size of Chinese Armies or thier draft potential....it al comes down to training and logistics.....US Military Forces are far superior!

Assuming that you are asking "who would win*", and assuming that no nuclear missiles are launched, China would win due to their 1,000,000 person standing army and GIGANTIC draft potential.
