A child that young needs to be seen by a doctor, and the medication should be prescribed by the doctor. Wow I haven't heard of a case of worms with a child sense I was a child, but I guess it still happens. Just never thought about it.
Good luck

Cheesus, I don't believe it. How did the child get worms in the first place. As a qualified herbalist I would recommend 2 heaped tsp of garlic twice daily for 2 days. But in a young child, they need to be seen by a Dr, NOW!!!

I don't get why everyone on here always says Quick! Go to ER! No wonder you have to wait there so long when you're head is bleeding or your teeth have fallen out if every mum in the town is there because their child has worms or a cough.
Get a grip!
Oh and in answer to yuor question there is a drug called pirprex which is used in the UK just ask your pharmacist.

sorry but to the person who asked how does a child get worms ?
I think it would be safe to say that we are all prone to picking up worms.. this happens because we touch things that other people have touched and these people may be carrying the near micro-scopic eggs on their fingers,,, hand rails, door knobs
Worms are things that live in our bodies and it is extremely easy to pick them up... KIDS especially will pick them up if they suck their fingers or bite their nails.
As adults our systems generally can deal with them and the last time I spoke to our doctor re worming my family .. she stated that it isn't necesary these days .. and sometimes more harm is done by regular worming ( from the chemicals) than having the worms ...
I WOULD though seek a second opinion if the child was unwell or underweight as the infestation could be too servere for the body to deal with.
if the child has an itchy bottom , if the child is kept awake at night , these things would be of a concern.. IF though the child is fine .. I don't know if i would really worry about worming JUST for wormings sake ..
just teach him/her good hygiene as in handwashing and no finger sucking ..
talk to your doctor though ... mine may have been having a BE KIND TO WORMS moment :)

u need to take your child to the dr and get them to prescribe some de-worming medicine, all the family will need to take some too (the dr will advise you about this) then you will need to clean your house from top to bottom, wash all clothing and bedding etc, clean toilets and bathrooms etc...you then need to make sure you have wormed regularly any pet that you may have that can cause them to come back. if it was from school then the school will need to be informed! make sure from now on you try not to touch any animals outside or things like that, and if you do make sure you have washed your hands thoroughly after..
you have to be exceptionally clean especially with kids! so make sure you all keep up with regular hand washing and good hygiene.
worms can happen to anyone but if you follow what i have said it can help reduce the chances of it happening again.
goodluck

Theres no need to take them to the hospital as sudgested before. Go to the chemist you can buy it over the counter and i think its called VERMOX , you have to do the whole spoobful. any1 under 5 is 2.5ml and over 5 is 5ml (you have to do the WHOLE family at the same time) and it kills the worms on contact. Repeat 1 week later.

It's called vermox in the uk. I think it is prescription only. There is another one they will try to foist on you but not so good. You want something to kill the buggers, not knock them out.
