I want to use a new computer for itunes, the thing is, I don’t want to burn 10 CD's to transfer my itunes collection to a new computer. Now, I know the first step would be to download the itunes software, but can I use the ipod to transfer my music? How would I do it? (It’s an ipod mini)

There is a support article on Apple's website on how to do what you are asking.

the iPod download is a one-way street. Stuff goes into the iPod, but the music flies cannot get out; at least not easily-if at all. However, in your situation, I have simply transferred my music files from one computer to another. If both computers have a FireWire port, you can connect them together and it will allow one computer to read the contents of the other and transfer them acordingly. Unfortunately, you cannot do the same thing with USB. (FireWire is peer-to-peer, whereas USB is master-slave)

But most likely, both of them have an ethernet port. In that case you can create a simple network by connecting them via a "null modem" which is an ethernet cable that so to speak has it's wires crossed. (available from most electronics stores for about $10.-)

Sorry, but i think that all of these people are wrong because there is a program called iDump that is fantastic that is 100% free. I have used it for the very situation that you are in. It is very simple to operate also. You can organize all of your music in albums and artists, however you'd like.

Here is the link to the website.

you can't do it with the iPod. however, if you get an ethernet cable, you can connect the two computers together, and copy the music over directly.
