Move flowers from ceremony to reception hall. Have coordinating flowers in the centerpiece. Put mirror plate under flowers and it really gives the arrangements a boost. English ivy trailing on the tabletop at the base of the arrangement is a nice touch on the white cloth. Be sure and use a tall pedestal container for arrangement with tall candle tapers on either side of the arrangement.
Red flower choices could be roses of course or carnations, or gladiolas or Gerber daises, tulips, and your florist will have other suggestions.

For a night wedding reception (or if the hall is a little dim) I recently used: from a home improvement store or like Michael's buy 10"-12"
mirrors (I used square and set them at an angle) On top of that I put glass candelabra, tapered candles, and arranged flowers around each. I used this for each guest table in the reception hall. The glow from the candles in the mirror created a really romantic effect.

well. the usual are ice carvings, very nice flower arrangements...
some of the memorable weddings i went to... small fish bowls with tiny fish inside and a stem of a flower
another is a flower arrangement with a cage and butterflies inside. Then theres a part of the program where the butterflies were freed.
ANother had really tall flowers as center pieces but it was cool because you kind of peeked through the people in your table. She had tiny plastic champagne bottles at the bottom of the vase people got curious opened it up and voila! Everyone was blowing bubbles throughout the night! (i forgot how you call that toy but if you blow it you'll create bubbles...)
Another garden wedding I attended to had fireflies. Check if there are butterly or firefly farms in your area to see if this is a viable option for you...
Anyway, good luck. Hope my short stories gave you ideas on how you'll create the perfect center piece for your wedding...

I just got married Oct. 28. We used small 11" topiaries with our colors. Our colors were wine with gold, ivory, and dark green accents. You can buy them on eBay for like $50 for 10. (Not a bad price if you compare). That's for the plain ivory ones then we had our family help us spice them up. You can add red flowers, berries, leaves and a bunch more. We had them sitting on a mirror. It was a 11am wedding so it wasn't extravagent. If you want more, you can order the taller ones with the banch for the base and it's intertwined and put votives or tea lights around the bottom. My grandmother is a florist so I grew up doing this stuff. There are some pictures on my profile if you want to take a look
I wish you the best of luck!

I just did a wedding and the center pieces were a summer hat. Which we used spray roses , babies breath and other accent flowers and greenery. Then we placed the candles in the center of the piece . For formal affairs Ive used the hats the maidrons ware. If it was a western theme they were trying for Ive even found pink cowboy hats and made them for the brides. Just a nice wicker hat with a nice bow and 3 roses and ivy looks very nice with a candle. Congratulations!

I used pillar candles, and a nice candy dish. I put the dish between the candles and then sprinkled the little wedding confetti on the tables. I filled the candy dishes with the after dinner thank you mints. The candles make a nice atmosphere and look really nice. I got everything at Hobby Lobby.

for my wedding, I bought inexpensive tall straight vases ($1.50-$2) and used regular glue to attach "Love" tissue paper to the outside. It finished the top edge with ribbon and burned a votive candle inside. This sat on a beveled-edge mirror which the reception hall provided. There were also 3 addt'l votive candles (hall provided) on the mirror along with a few of those clear glass stones that you see in fish tanks. These looked like large water droplets. If you want a picture I can e-mail you one. lwatt19@yahoo.com

It all depends on other things too, I think, but the ideas that I have are:
small fishbowls with colored stones, matching your colors
Tall vases/flowers up top so guests can see each other
Balloon bouquets (still high enough to see thru)
Floating candles in a low glass dish, with flowers around it
cheap bridal themed figurines, given away as prizes to guests
Hope this helps! Best of luck!

For my wedding we used glass bowls and filled them with glass rocks (the kind you find in floral shops) and then put 3 different height candles in them (representing me, my husband and our son) and placed them on a mirror square on the tables so that when the candles were lit the light was reflected also...was very pretty......
