I believe I've been mistreated, it happened about 8 years ago though... so I don't think there's anything I can do about it. I was in a hospital once for depression and they made us take showers and press a buzzer so they could check us (while we were naked) to make sure we put enough soap on ourselves. I was about 11 then and I just started going through puberty. I felt very violated, but I never said anything because I thought this was normal...

Is this wrong???

I don't have any money for a lawyer and I don't think theres any thing we can do about it this late, I don't even remember the dr's names.

I'm just wondering if this is mistreatment/abuse? If it is would this qualify as sexual abuse in some way??

Honesty hurts. The nurses should not have checked. However, they did. You were in for depression, right? You are still suffering depression. You must find a good doctor who is highly educated with chemical imbalance problems. If and only if, you can find such a doctor, you will start feeling better within a month. The problem is finding a good doctor. It took 15 years for me to find the right doctor to treat me. Do not even think that legal route. You will not get anywhere and you will not feel good about yourself if you should win but you won't.

Many people in mental health facilities are not capable of truly taking care of themselves due either to their mental condition or the side effects of being on so much medicaton. Some are on suicide precaution....I don't know if you had to take group showers or not??

Either way.... YOU feel that your space was violated and it's upset you. For this reason, you probably need someone to talk to. Do you see a therapist now? If so, have you ever discussed how you feel now about this?

I hope you find the answers you are looking for...and, I hope you feel better about all of it soon.

Well, I kinda think it depends on how you were. Obviously, they should have only had the same sex check on you, but I worked on a mental health unit, and sometimes, we had to check on people while they were doing everything, especially if we suspected in any way they were suicidal.
