I have a RMVB (RealPlayer) file. I would like to know the necessary steps in obtaining the appropriate software and the disk that I need to buy.

I know popular video formats are AVI etc.

Please tell me about RMVB.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

there are 2 major modes when burning files on DVDs
1. you wanna make Video-DVD so that it can run on your DVD-Player or Hi-Fi system that contains a DVD-player....

2. Data-dvd....in which you can write any type of file but you cant play it in your DVD-Player even if you have burned an AVI/MPEG or any sort of media file...

just select your RMVB file and choose option Video-DVD....rmvb file would be converted into appropriate type before burning by your software(NERO etc)..hence can pe played on any dvd-player..
if you make a data-dvd with even AVI/MPEG or rmvb file..you wont be able to watch it on your dvd player....
Buying DVD:
there are 2 standards DVD-R and DVD+R..just check your player and writer...for which standard they support...buy the appropriate one...
