my 3month old puppy is likes to pick up things with his mouth when we go for a walk. The thing is he eats them. Today he tried to eat small rocks. I'm kinda scared that he would choke on them. I always leave food for him at home so he is not starving. He also ate plant leaves and branches today. Is it normal? or is he too young to know what he should be eating and what he shouldn't be eating?
He is my baby and I won't want anything to happen to him.

i have bought him many toys...
it seems like he has no interest on his toys.
I wish he would just chew on things (that he's not supposed to eat) and not eat them...but he does.

another question...how long a puppy normally sleep during the day? It seems like my puppy is sleeping all day. Whenever I put him on my lap he falls asleep. I try to keep him active by taking him a short walk at least 3 times a day. Is oversleeping a sign of something bad?

Please make sure that he doesn't eat the rocks. This can cause intestinal blockage that can only be fixed by surgery. When a blockage occurs, part of the intestine dies. Puppies love to chew, but you need to watch him very carefully. All he knows is that he wants to play. He is curious and is depending on you to know what he should and shouldn't have.
When at home and he gets bored, give him a Kong and put a little dab on peanut butter right on the inside. This will keep him busy for awhile. There are alot of acceptable toys for puppies at the pet store. Another warning, if you give him stuffed animals, make sure he doesn't eat the fuz that is inside or that can also cause intestinal blockage. Also make sure he doesn't eat or choke on the eyes and nose if the stuffed animal has them.
Good luck! I know having a puppy can be alot of work but it will be worth it!!!

My puppy is the same way, yesterday my toddler was feeding her crayons. Are you sure that he actually was trying to eat the rocks or just play with them. Watch him closely and try to keep inedible things away from him. It is a constant job, just like a toddler. Also, puppies tend to be very active at times and then just collapse. If you think that he is sleeping way too much, then call your vet.

my golden retriever does that and its because they are exploring new things if he really ate the rock i would be worried but if he just chewed on it its ok because though they are three months they are still teething the plants are totally normal sometimes they might over eat and the plants make there stomach feel better or as i said before they could be exploring new things or they could just be eating the plants because they want to if he starts eating rocks rather than dropping them after he figures out they aren't good then that could be dangerous

Your puppy may be eating these things because they are lacking in his diet. Rocks=iron; leaves=fiber. You should be feeding (I will list these top dollar first) Solid gold wolf cub, eagle pack puppy formula, or Purina One puppy. Iams and Eukanuba USED to be good foods, not any more. You may want to also try nutrical puppy, your vet can get it for you

puppies are like small children. no matter what it is, it goes straight in the mouth. try and keep a close eye on the baby or you could have some really big vet bills.

He's a puppy. Wait til he starts teething! You're just going to have to keep a close eye on him.
Pigs ears are every DVMS' nightmare! |(Not very good for you dog...choking, intestinal tract hazard.)

thats normal for any puppy. they like to chew. get him pig ears and dog bones and rubber chew toys and tug-of-war ropes. he may just wnat to switch up his diet. get him a few different yet similar things with different flavors. find out which ones he likes and doesn't like and make sure to buy different varieties.
