Chicken pox is a virus, as is herpes simplex (the coldsore on the lip) The two are unrelated, except when you are unfortunate enough to have the cold sore at the same time there is a viral outbreak of chicken pox. Chicken pox is NOT herpes.

A cold sore is a form of herpes, the herpes simplex virus, but chicken pox is not a form of herpes. Chicken pox is a Vericella virus infection.

Yes Chicken Pox, Cold sores and Shingles are all caused from the Herpes Simplex Virus. It is not the STD Herpes though. Those who are unfortunate enough to have Shingles have the virus dormant in their spinal fluid and if they are exposed to someone with the Chickenpox, Shingles or suffer some kind of extreme stress it can cause a flair up.

If you have chicken pox, you will have pimple looking sores all over, especially around the torso area, sides, under arms. A cold sore could be just what you call it, a cold sore. Neither one has anything to do with Herpes. However, if you have Herpes, you may have sores on your mouth.

yes, chicken pox is a herpes virus. but it is not the same at herpes simplex since it does not recur. shingles and epstein barr syndrome are also in the herpes family.
just to clarify, herpes is a family of viruses known to cause a variety of diseases including chicken pox and the well known STD herpes simplex. these two diseases are not the same, they only reside in the same classification of viral infections.
